Default East Valley is a strip malled mess!!

I agree. I'm moving in two months to the east coast. The thing about this area that drives me nuts is the commute. They are building NO office buildings to work in. They're only building strip malls. And, no offense to those who take that carrer path, I don't want to make a living by working in a "Super Target" in Gilbert. Since gas prices are so riduculous, and the morning and evening commutes take hours with the traffic, I just hate the east valley. The closest office building I could find from Gilbert is in central Phoenix. That's a 45 minute drive there and back, plus the extra traffic, and gas prices are ridiculously high here. Phoenix, and Scottsdale are so expensive, I can not afford it. So, I'm outta here. I would not recommend the east valley. And for those that can't afford Phoenix and Scottsdale, my only suggestion is DO NOT move to AZ!!!

Hey, AZoverrated..where are you relocating on the east coast?? We have been doing a lot of research in rural areas of NC. We are doing remodeling to our home and i hope to relocate this time next year. Look forward to hear your reply !!

ALSO, I think that this area will become like another LA which i think is a shame !! The builders here have no clue and its all about the $$ now ! No thought to how it is going to be in the future with water especially ! Guaranteed, we will be limited to using water during peak times during the day in the not too distant future. We are in a desert people!!
Anyway, dont get me going !!
Anyway all, have fun and take care!
Michele

Yah Michele, I couldn't agree with you more. I am looking into a job in central New Jersey. If the office i'm looking into works out, it will a lot shorter drive than my Gilbert to Phoenix drive everyday, and shckingly knowing the prices in those fancy little suburbs, it will be cheaper. I looked into NC too, Greenville in fact. Didn't have the kind of job I was looking for, though, so New Jersey it is, but NC sounded delightful! I know some people of over there and they are so sweet. I just love it there, and wish the right job would come around, and maybe it still will. My options are in the air. The only thing I'm sure of is i'm out of AZ. Anyway, NC sounds great and good luck to both you, Michele, and a1m1700. You'll do great in NC. Good luck with selling your homes!!

Queen Creek and Gilbert are 2 different locations. They are close but they have individual city councils etc. I hope you enjoy Queen Creek or Gilbert (whichever it happens to be) and as a teacher if you teach other children as if they are your own then you will be a good teacher. As I said before...to each his own.

Default dear teacher

hi i moved to eastern mesa from chicagoland area.Youll find the people in the stores in my opinion very friendly, last night i had to take my daughter to the er room .I went to banner hospital which is on power rd and north of 60.I never been treated so well. The nurses ,staff, receptionist ,everyone was just "great".as for the climate, its all what you make of it.Its cool at night and they say they have mosquitoes, where I live I have hardly seen any.Back in chicagoland area, they eat you alive. You have to go in the house sometimes and there they wait for nightime so they can dine on you when your sleeping-----But the drivers out here are nutz.Wont, let you in,speed up when they see the road ending, that way they get a head of you.No signals--- why?why wouldnt you use signals if your turning?Real rude drivers.it sort of ruins it for me.They are real offensive drivers and little defense.Az I think has a lot to offer if you dont get killed on the road.

We are number 2 in the country for road rage. These drivers are the worst here for sure. Have you noticed everyday at rush hour an accident between Gilbert and Val Vista off the 60. They don't know how to merge.

As far as emergency rooms go. The last time I was in that Banner my husband was there for 13 hours and not seen by a doctor. We were in the waiting room and they kept checking his vital signs every hour to see if he has passed away yet. That was the worst place.

Next time you have an emergency try that new emergency hospital on Power and Ray. You will think you were queen for a day. They are very very good. I hope you will not need to go there but really try them the next time you need to.

Cody - You are absolutely correct. PHX will never be LA, not even a little. LA for all it's problems has style and substance, something that PHX can never hope to have.

Things are the same way here in the Palm Springs area. It's the desert, but there is nothing but housing tracts going in. The snobby LA wealthy buying up second homes and investment properties, people from other states who have no clue how to drive (too many people don't seem to realize you CAN turn right on a red light). We have so much traffic here that it sucks if you don't make your own lunch and bring it to work with you. You're *****ed! You wait in long lines to get fast food (aint no drive thru's allowed here) or if you want to go into a sit down restaurant, you get your food pretty close to when you have to leave to get back to work. Dinner? Same thing. 45 to an hour wait to get into a place.
