I can't speak to how it used to be in C.G. because I've only been out here a couple months but I find people to be very friendly. Even a neighbor I got off on the wrong foot with has since been good. Having lived in Tempe for the last 10 years people were friendly once you got to know them but day to day I would say people were involved in there own lives. I grew up in a small town were everyone went to the same schools and everyone knew your name. C.G. is somewhere in the middle.

Arent friendly, and arrogant - That's an unfair generalization of city folks Livewire. But maybe your expectations are way beyond what even small town folks offer. I've seen some very friendly and unfriendly folks, in both small towns and big cities. People are people, no matter where you go, and it's not fair to make a generalization about any city, big or small, just because of the actions of a few.

Coolidge/Casa Grande are lower in elevation than Tucson, and they are as hot as Phoenix in the summer.

As far as everything else is concerned, I think it woujld be better if you went out there and checked it out, rather than rely on the opinions of many here, and if you decide to do that, come down here in the middle of the summer and stay for a week or two. The heat may sound oppresive, but it's nothing A/C can't solve. The average high temperature from late May until early October is around 105, and dry for the most part. We do get days where highs get up to 115-118, but those are rare. When it gets humid, it's usually during the monsoon season, which is now, but humidity never gets as high as it does in many areas of the midwest and Gulf Coast. Also, when the humidity does come in, the temperature drops, especially when those monsoon thunderstorms come in.

Fall, winter, and most of the spring are perfect here, even though we do see low temperatures drop into the teens sometimes in December and January, but those instances are also rare. You may see about 5 to 10 scattered days, with lows that are below freezing.

Angry The most horrible town I have ever experienced!!!

I grew up in Coolidge, Arizona in the 1960's. To this day, I hate the area. Though I went away to college and received a doctorate, I had a fourth grade education by the time I graduated from Coolidge High School. I compensated and eventually received a decent education when I attended university.

I think I was very ambitious for this little town, as very few people who were raised in Coolidge seldom graduated from college. I now live in Scottsdale, and love this town, and I have never been back to Coolidge.

I remember the cruel ignorance that increased my low self esteem. It took years to overcome this town. I have heard that the standards are even lower than they were in the 60's. My last 42 years have been wonderful, but my first 17 years were terrible. Though I have many friends now, I have none from my first 17 years. I have no desire to every revisit my childhood aquaintances. The the fact I had wonderful and responsible parents was the only thing that made living in this town bearable.

Coolidge, Arizona is as cool as ice, as ignorant as hell, and as cruel as murder. Stay away from this town at all costs. I am so proud that I have avoided all Coolidge High reunions, classmates, teachers and authority figures from those first 17 years. Amityville horror multiple by 20 is all that I can remember about Coolidge.
