Default Prescott gardening

I've read that Verde Valley is able to grow lots of different fruit trees. Is Prescott the same?
Also, can a person have a sucessful vegetable garden in Prescott? Do they do any winter gardening, like lettuce, spinich, etc? Thanks!!

Default gardening info.

Check out watersonline.com. It's a great resource for gardening in the tri-city area.

Yes - that's a great source! Prescott's elevation is higher than the Verde Valley, so we're probably about 10-degrees cooler. The growing season is from about mid to late April thru mid to late October. Most fruit trees do well here, but occasionally a late frost will hinder apricots. As far as a vegetable garden - I can't think of anything you couldn't grow here. But beware of the bunnies! That's probably the biggest threat to a garden around here!

Thank you for the reply. The garden center website will be very helpful. Has anyone heard of growing pomegranates in Prescott?
On another note:
We are living in the Midwest and have plans on moving to AZ. Husband will be fully retired at the end of the year.

We are planning on spending a few weeks in Prescott in January, trying to decided if we should build or buy an exisiting house. We already have the lot bought. I think my husband was thinking that the gardening thing is quite important to him, and he was questioning if Prescott was the place for him.

We have been visiting Prescott for many years and love it. I was disappointed when I read about the Prison maybe going up in PV.

Thank again.

Don't worry, Junebug, the PV town council received so many emails and phone calls opposing the prison that they decided not to look into it any further. I'm glad they listened to what the residents wanted. Here's a link to the newspaper article about last night's decision: http://www.dcourier.com/main.asp?Sec...rticleID=48753
