You are talking about this road....
I kind a like these roads, no traffic, nothing going on.
There is a historical marker in the middle of nothing, guess what, they had a war going on there, was about salt......

I just love western history.

When I drove it, I was cruising along at abt 70. Took my hand off the wheel and left it off for 21 miles....never touched it, never wavered, at 21 miles I turned the wheel once, and then did the same for another 20 miles.....good road but straight as it can be

I'm planning on driving to Phoenix to boston, within the first week of December, any routes I should avoid due bad weather?
I was thinking on follow this route
I-84 ,then go south on I-81 then change to I-40 all the way to Flagstaff
Would it be safe to drive down to Phoenix from Flagstaff?
Happy Thanksgiving

Generally avoid anywhere above 5,000ft elevation in the western states and stay south of the TN/GA border in the eastern states.

Take 95 all the way to Florence, SC, get on I-20, take it all the way to where it ends at I-10 near Kent, TX, then take 10 the rest of the way. Not the most direct route, but keeps you out of snow best during the winter months

I don't know why somebody told me to avoid driving across Texas bc it takes you like an extra day of driving, that's way I-20 wasn't my first option.
Here is a photo of my route map

Um, I haven't looked at a US highway map lately but wouldn't this be heading in the wrong direction? But then the OP's travel plan was confusing. Are you going TO Boston or TO Phoenix OP? Rather an important distinction. Doesn't matter really. Sounds as if you'd already made up your mind before asking anyway.

I'm actually going to Hermosillo Mexico, from Boston.
I was just trying to use Phoenix as a point of reference.
I'm asking for advice I haven't made up my mind yet
Thank you.

I have actually done a road trip from northern New England to the Phoenix are multiple times. Some people I have talked to hate driving through Texas just because of how isolated the western part of the state is. If the weather holds up then using I-81 and I-40 for most of the trip is probably the best way.

It didn't this week, I-40 was closed between Winslow and Ash Fork Friday. And 17 was closed between Flagstaff and Middle Verde

When I moved from Rhode Island, and after I got into Connecticut, I took I-84 west out of Hartford, to I-81 south. Turned onto the PA turnpike (I-76) west near Carlisle, to the I-70 split. Followed I-70 all the way to St. Louis. Picked up I-44 there to OKC. Then I-40 to I-17, south to Phoenix.
