We might meet you at some car shows though. My husband sometimes drags me and our kids along. I used to enjoy them, but prefer to do other things now. He still loves going.

Your husband would be someone I would love to chat with on here. We are avid car enthusiasts and I prefer going to cruise inns mostly to just enjoy the cars. Unfortunately on all our trips out there,,,,I haven't seen much car activity in or around the Prescott area. Maybe he could give us some places to check out as we are coming out next month.

[quote=sablebaby;1808416]Yeah, he goes to the Pavilions most Saturdays. I used to go but hate the yucky car fumes. I did drive him there last Saturday and shopped around Target for a while. He rarely takes his cars there though, too much trouble for him to clean the cars and then drag them out. [/quote

I take it this Pavilion area is somewhere in the Phoenix vacinity? Anyone know of decent cruise spots in the Prescott area as well?

I understand the cleaning aspect of things. What has bothered me is the amount of housing forsale that are on dirt roads. Something we won't consider as most of our cars can't cover that kind of terrain, not to mention the amount of cleaning involved would just ruin it for me. If I am goin to pay $350,000 for a house by gosh it better be on a paved road for cryin' out loud.

Hi again FirebirdJones,

I'm sure our Prescott area friends here will help you with your specific Prescott questions soon.

About car shows, here's a good website. It looks like it covers the entire state of AZ. The Pavillions show that sablebaby mentioned is in Scottsdale and is shown in this site. Good news for you is that there are some shows in the Prescott area too!

You should move to Kingman. It's muscle car heaven out here. Route66, and all the diners have hot-rod themes. Every year they close off Main St and have drag races.

I think you'd fit right in.

You are exactly right, I would fit like a glove. I just wish they would do something like that more often than once a year

I have been keeping the dragstrip in the back of my mind, and only know of 2 that are around the Phoenix area, and would be 1 1/2 hours drive from Prescott at least. I am aware of the new dirt track just built on 89A in Prescott Valley but as of yet, no dragstrip

In any event, you have peaked my interest,,,please shoot me some more info about this town. I remember seeing it from I-40 when we were coming back from Lake Havasu and heading towards Prescott. Jobs? Housing? Anything you can enlighten me with. Coming out next month, I will make sure we take a drive up to check things out. Cheers.

P.S. Is it as hot there as it is in Lake Havasu? There is obviously a demand for some racing there,,,why not build a dragstrip,,,,there is plenty of wide open spaces out there? Awsome that a town actually pulls something like that off,,,,,hard to believe. Doing something like that where I live would take an act of congress.

I also remember while traveling East on I-40,,,possibly while near the Kingman area,,,off to the right side I remember seeing a huge car lot from the highway,,,that was full of nothing but old iron,,,,,I nearly wrecked the car
I wanted to turn around and have a look, but being on a tight schedule my wife thought better and kept me on the road,,,,I would have been hours

Care to elaborate on this place? We need to hook up and grab some food or something.

Lots of car enthusiasts up here in the Prescott area. Lots of classic car rallies, shows, etc. Peeples Valley is pretty far out, especially if you're going to commute to Prescott for work. There's a house I'm thinking of that's been for sale out north of Prescott Valley - newer (2002 or 2003, if I remember correctly), about 2,000 sf on 2+ acres. 3-car attached garage and a separate HUGE garage/workshop. I'm trying to remember if it had a hoist in it. It was plumbed, though. Last time I looked the price was below $375k. Nice house, too, with granite couters in the kitchen and hardwood floors. Anyway, point being, I think there's options for you that come pretty close to what you're looking for.
