Hey all, current police officer here in MD.

Looking to relocate to AZ for a police job but have no idea where to go.

I LOVE the state and warmer weather but I really don't know what the best places are.

Thanks!

Your best bet might be to start filing apps with different PD's. Once you get in then you can transfer. Too; there's something called "Az POST".

I don't know about best places, but it seems like Apache Juction, Glendale, Gilbert, Surprise and Mesa are looking. Here are links and some others you may want to keep checking:

Apache Junction
Mesa
Glendale
Gilbert
Surprise
Marana
Tucson
Oro Valley
Scottsdale
Avondale
Casa Grande

Many cities have instituted hiring freezes, so the larger PD's will be your best bet as they still need to hire due to attrition. What size department are you used to working in? As mentioned above, you will have to become certified by AZ Post. Some departments allow you to test (as far as I understand), others will require you attend the academy again. If you want more rural, check out the county sherrifs. I believe Cochise County is still hiring, but will probably be filled up soon. Pima may be hiring also. Most counties look for lateral hires, most cities are more willing to send you to the academy. Good luck.
