Cool thanks for the ideas so far. Have to check out a couple of these for sure. Yuma seems iffy because of the insane heat. I love heat and can handle 100 degrees easily, but I really don't want to have to trade 4 months of indoor activities because of winter for 2 or 3 months of indoor activities because of heat. Everyone I've talked to said it's just too hot to really do much outside for at least 2 months.

Like the others said: take a look at Prescott, Kingman or Sierra Vista. All 3 are def cooler than Phoenix but NOT as cold as Flagstaff.

I think the o/p was trying to be "funny."

Where I live right now is the perfect place, to me. Small enough to not have horrible traffic problems, plenty of shopping, close enough to larger places if I want MORE shopping...about 50 miles from both Flagstaff and Prescott. If people can't find outdoor activities to keep them busy here they aren't looking or don't care. The weather is next to perfect year round. Cooler than Phoenix and warmer than Flagstaff or Prescott in winter. Lots of GREEN, a couple of rivers and Sedona!!

My second choice would probably be Payson. I lived there for over 14 years, watched it grow and become the 'ideal' place.

I think Payson may 'hit the mark' now. When I moved there, in 1982, there were about 5,000 people and now it's about 15,000...I think. It's grown a lot, has good shopping and real estate is not over priced. There's much to be said for enjoying the outdoors in Payson and the surrounding area. The weather is nice, not too hot in summer and not that much snow in winter. In all the years I lived there I never once got to call off work due to snow...bummer! lol

If money was not an isue, I would go for Pismo Beach CA......Quiet, clean, and weatherwise just perfect.

The 16.000 mark leaves out a lot very nice towns in AZ.

money being no issue I would choose Sedona. I can't imagine having a bad day while waking up to those beautiful vistas every morning.

Nice towns in Arizona: Flagstaff (but cold in winter), Sedona (milder temps and between Flag and PHX), Prescott (cold in winter, but nice town square), Bisbee (smaller than you want, but an interesting place).
