Oro Valley. Great hiking opportunities in Catalinas and 3 other mountain ranges, Sabino Canyon, good road cycling (check out the Saturday Shootout ride out of downtown Tucson if you are a cyclist), good shoping and dining around the corner. Marana would be good too, Sedona those are my choices.

Well, the Show Low/Pinetop/Lakeside area would qualify. The total population would probably be around 20,000 or so, but it seems bigger ... and I think it's because of the extent of the area being one large stretch of town along the main drag with really no break in the development from Show Low all the way through Pinetop. Lots of outdoor recreation: fishing, boating, hiking, horseback riding, snow sports in the winter. Summers are beautiful with high temps usually in the 70s & 80s.

Sedona would be my No. 1 Choice, Maybe Prescott or the White Mountains area.
