As a lifelong Arizona resident / Native, I have to tell you that while I like the idea of a theme park, I doubt very seriously it will ever come to fruition here.
I doubt it was the heat that killed it. It might have something to do that the park was aging, and a couple people were killed on one of the rides. With lawsuits and the negative pubilicity that followed helped with its demise.

I have read up on legend city and the rides looked cheesy, and like the other poster said there was a lot of lawsuits.

An indoor theme park is possible, look at circus circus in vegas, but it would have to be on a much larger scale. I am sure with enough covering, misters, and trees it would be alright.

Most people who come to AZ visit in the cooler months anyways.

There was an add here in the Eloy paper that stated that the park is no longer going to happen that investors want it closer to Phoenix and not out where the original plan was, so I do not think it will happen in Eloy if it happens at all.

Also... I'm sorry, but sticking another four (4) white guys up on top of a Mt Rushmore wannabe (Mt RockMore?) in a rock & roll theme park? C'mon! Seriously? THAT alone absolutely makes NO sense!

I can understand Buddy Holly and Elvis, but then... why not either Little Richard, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, or Ray Charles? Or why totally eliminate women rockers from the Mount? Why not have Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, or Janis Joplin?

This whole idea was doomed to failure from the start because of the narrow-minded "planning"! I would've preferred to have made a pilgrimage up to the doomed Eloy Starbucks for a Cafe Vanilla Frappacino (grande), than to have had anything to do with such an ill-conceived "rock & roll" theme park!

If its going to be done, then put more thought into it, and do it correctly! Then, even I, a lifelong Arizonan, would most assuredly support it!

Probably the same progress as the Grand Canyon theme park in Williams. Wonder how many disgruntled investors in that pyramid scheme are stuck with a bunch of worthless land?
