Kingman is like any other city on an interstate highway. It has all the fast foods/Denny's, etc. There is the usual Walmart/Kmart/Target smorgasbord of shopping, but nothing upscale.

Some people think Kingman is a dump, but I personally don't think it is that bad. Ive certainly seen worse.

Walmart and Kmart, but no Target or other big box type stores. Las Vegas is the closest town (about 105 miles from the city limits) for large stores/malls etc. It's a nice small town but growing way too fast. House prices doubled and tripled between late 2004 and early 2005. They are still asking high prices, but there is not much selling. They priced the locals out long ago, and the speculators are not as interested. Hundreds of new vacant houses and thousands more in the works.

Welcome to Kingman

The boom has busted, lots of empty houses abound here.

When the interchange is built just to east we should have better shopping.

As stated before Henderson is the shopping area, 1 stop shopping at and around the galleria mall.
We do movies at Sunset station, costco is there so makes a great getaway from Kingman.

Weather has been great so far cooling down nicely at night.

Also if you are outdoorsey there is a ton of hiking trails, river is not to far away plus just south is Hualapi Mtn Park which has plenty of pine trees to make you forget you are in Kingman.
Also up there is the Lodge which has good food and you can watch the wildlife (deer,Elk etc.) from you table. (they put out food to draw them in)

So come on in plenty of room for new faces.

That's exactly where we go. Every possible store within a couple of blocks and lunch at the Sunset Station. And of course some time with the slot machines.

Seems generally agreed that real estate prices have come down some. But what about land prices? I'm still looking for something in Lazy YU and wonder what to expect during my next visit.

Most land seems to still be asking 10 to 20 times what is was a couple of years ago. There are some reduced prices and tons of lots for sale. Lazy YU never went up as much as a lot of places, probably due to speculators not being able to split the acreage there into 6000' lots . There hasn't been as much for sale there. I would try emailing a few realtors and asking them. Land is different than houses, I think you might get a better idea by contacting several. Especially realtors that specialize in land.

Yes, very windy, off and on most of the year. The wind is the hardest thing to get used to. You can grow vegetables, you just have to keep them watered during the hot summer months. We have tomatoes, grapes and pomogranite and almond trees.
