I'd put in a vote for Portal. A little wetter ( a little over 17" of precip. and I assume closer to forests) than Cottonwood and Sierra Vista, with highs around 90 in summer and lows around freezing in winter, with a skiff of snow, and with sunny days. In summer, the thunderstorms would build over the Chiricahuas and provide some shade in the heat of the afternoon, and probably a shower, and perhaps even some protection from the spring winds. Bottomline, mild, but variable ,4 season climate with beautiful scenery to enjoy in sun or rain or snow. Sounds pretty ideal. I have never been, but the weather stats and geography look good.

I completely forgot about Sierra Vista. I would have voted Pinetop/Show Low 10 years ago, but since the forest fires have nuked a lot of the woods up there, it's really windy. It seems that is the biggest downfall to being above the rim, wind. I picked Tucson.

Prescott, no question about it. Summer highs in the low 90's, winter highs in the mid 40's, lots of sunshine and only small amounts of snow. Bisbee and Patagonia are a close second.

The reason why I chose Yuma is because I love sunny days and Yuma is the sunniest place in the world. I also love extremely hot weather as it is perfect weather for swimming and all kinds of water activities.
