Default Azva

Does anyone have any experience with Arizona's Virtual Academy? I am happy with the school my 13 year old is currently attending and never though I'd consider homeschooling but she seems hell bent on being part of the "bad crowd" no matter what I do. I feel like she needs to be removed from the situation. She is very, very imature (more like a 9 or 10 year old)and doesn't really seem able to make good decisions at this point in her life.

I have 3 other young children (I would only homeschool the 13 year old) so worry that I wouldn't have the time to focus enough on the homeschooling. Any experience and opinions would be appreciated. I checked into this a year or two ago and liked the idea but my husband vetoed it based on the time factor.

We have used AZVA for several years now and if you are willing to commit your time and effort it is a great program. My 14 year old is still in it, but my 16 year old is a sophomore this year and gos to Safford High. She is doing very well and I think a lot of it is because of her time in AZVA.

Thank you for the info! Can you give me an idea of the schedule you follow with this program? What type of time commitment is involved? Do you spend 4 hours a day 5 days a week or (?)

Thanks alot!

My wife knows a lot more than I do, but I believe it is about 6 hours a day.

My children are in AZVA they do there homework at there own pace, about 3 hours, and in the afternoon we do history, science, and art online. the neat thing is they can count educational things like watching the history channel, or going to an art museum exc as hours toward that day. My kids get lots of physical ed hours. As far as scheduling you have the freedom to do what fits best for your family. Be creative, make it fun like doing school work at the park, or a coffee shop. The thing is being consistent. As far as the ciricullim it is amazing plus they offer world laungages....Good luck!! ...they offer lots of workshops online once you enroll.
