Actually, both of those are probably straight answers! At the height of summer, we're paying around $200/$250 for AC, pool, lots of computers, etc, and everything else. I just found out our neighbors with a similar setup (approx same size house, pool, etc) are paying $400/$450 per month. I was floored.

What's the difference? Not sure, but I do know I'm constantly turning lights off around the house while our neighbors often have outside lights burning, etc. I think a little conservation goes much further than people think.

I think it all depends how well insulated your home is. While I have all of you BHC and FM folks here. Do any of you hear explosions from time to time? I'm in Mohave Valley during the winter months. Sometimes it sounds like dynomite is being set off in the distance.

Insulation probably wouldn't be a factor as these are almost identical houses built by the same builder.

Explosions in the distance? Could be hunters maybe?

I hear the same kind of noises in Lake Havasu. I have been told it is from the Military with sonic booms. Its just what I heard.

I live in BHC and my elec bill on my old home(burnt down in June) would be about $215 at the hottest time of summer. It was much better after I put in a 13 SEER A/C and low E windows. It went down to $180. Your A/C and windows make a big difference.

For those that live there how is the employment situation. Do many work across the river? Also how hard is it to get a job for the casinos? The hospital where I currently work offers a couple of company trips a year to Lauphlin. I love it out there. BTW, I am a locksmith with over 15 years experience, and 10 years facilities maintanence experience.

Both Bullhead City and Fort Mohave have a Medical Center/Hospital.. there may be a job for you there?

Soon2be... Casino employment is up and down.. for a skilled person such as yourself, you may have a better time of it. Many of them let you apply online. Things aren't well here right now financially - just so you know. We were hit VERY hard by the housing market crash as Bullhead City was of the fasted growing cities in the country prior to that, so there's a lot of empty houses here right now. Consequently, that does make for perfect conditions to rent.

A freind of mine used to be a locksmith in the casinos and he eventually moved to vegas to make enough money to make it. That was several years ago, so it may be different now?

As far as the eletricity goes - it's a nightmare. MEC are impossible to deel with. They don't ever offer extentions, there is no way to pay them online or on a 24 hour phone thing, they roll their eyes at you while you pay them, and they ask you a bunch of prodding questions about your personal life. They completely take advantage of the fact that there's nowhere else to go for electricity here.

The bill? it would be cheeper to run an extention cord from Kingman. The fluctuations in the bill prices you see form everyone are just the difference in the electric company. The Golden Valley poster and the one that posted about the person in Mohave Valley - those two both have a different electric company. The folks that are on indian land have the reservation electricity and those in Golden Valley, Oatman, Kingman, and etc. all have UES. Thing is - MEC doesn't charge that much more per KWT hour as the others.. Somehow, those of us with MEC USE more electricity (Like - nearly DOUBLE)? I wonder how that happens?

Some of us are starting to organize to get some things looked at and changed with MEC - I invite you all to join us.

Default Ps

The schools in bullhead City seem alright from what I have seen over the last 5 months. I am much, much, much, happier with them than I was with the Fort Mohave schools.

...Just in case any of you have kids in school.

Also, the city parks and rec has some nice events for the family all year long.
