My home is a little over 1400 square feet, built in 2006 and the electric bill I just received is $213. I keep my thermostat set at 77. i wonder why mine is so much lower.

That's a very good question, unless you have your bills averaged year round.

No disrespect here guys: if I were to leave the Phx area-----------it would probably be to our High Desert. I turned age 51 today and to be frank: anything above 105F even factoring an under 55 degree dew point is too damned hot.

Happy Birthday AZ Bear - but it's a dry heat! HAHAHAHA!

Truly, this part of the world is not for everyone. But for those who love it, it's great.

No, they are not averaged. I did goof on that amount though. I looked again and it is $218. And that is with two computers going 24/7 and a full size freezer. The freezer and frig are energy savers. I buy those pleated filters for the A/C and use a compressor to blow out the dust every two weeks and replace them before two months. They say that they are supposed to be good for 90 days. BS.

Hi everyone....I live in Bullhead City and our electric bill from Mohave Electric Cooperative went thru the roof this summer.

The "purchase power adjustment" made it much higher this summer....due to higher oil/fuel costs. We weren't prepared to pay such high bills! Two years ago, we bought a new air-conditioner/heater with a heat pump. At first, our bills were less....until oil prices shot thru the roof this year.

The cost of living is getting higher and higher in our area now. Also, we're tired of all of the traffic in Bullhead City today, and the "road rage," "boomers" and you name it!! We moved here 14 plus years ago to get away from the "rat race" in So. CA....Time to move on soon. Thanks, Claire

Wow, I can't believe what electric is costing you folks in Bullhead. We're in Kingman, house is about 2500 sq/ft, pool, landscape lights, 4 desktop computers on all the time, two central AC units set at 76 degrees (sometimes lower). Electric was $340 last month. A year ago it was $240, so we've gone up as well.

And I was wincing at my $185 August electric bill here in Scottsdale in my 750 S/F apartment!

Methinks I protesteth too much.

Remember that Kingman is on average 12 degrees cooler than BHC as well. Too the former city's daytime highs occur later in the day and things start cooling off sooner in the evening courtesy of being 3,300' above sea level.
