I don't mind the gun-toting cowboys but drug dealers aren't my favorite type of neighbor!! We've been to that cafe a couple of times right off the I 40. Seemed like a hub of activity. Do the "good guys" hang out there?

Californians want to SCREW UP AZ more !!
Good job AA!!! These folks from CA want to move/retire to a small outback town in a state w/low income tax rate and close to their kids ( distance wise ) And life will be good for them . The wide open country, wildlife, coyotes howling at sunset, beautiful sunsetsand basically god's country. But after 4-6 months +/- they lust for the comforts of CA. Walmart, the paracidic example of captalism at it's best/worst. The Cali's will move to Seligman, and many other places in the " Wild, Wild West" towns because they want to get away from that Cali life-style! Then they will want to run for city council or ? and try to pass laws like they had in Cali. Next will be assements for sidewalks, street lights, city water districts and ect. All the BS and taxes they say they want to leave. Gossip in a small town is normal, maybe not cool. But that will happen because I used to live in Alpine, WY ( 472 pop. and heavy morman town ) and you just gotta be like a duck. Let water run of your back and just quack loud sometimes!! Anyone thinking a Walmart is coming to Seligman in the next 10 years is either on meth or Prozac, or maybe both!!! You older folks that want to buy a place that you can retire to and have a peaceful place to enjoy your senior years, I don't blame you for choosing around Seligman and I hope things go well for you. Doctors and Lincare are streched but more power to you. I live in Lake Havasu but I plan selling soon and leaving back to a small town ( w/gossip ) but don't know where yet. Am working in Seligman and had thought of there abouts before/after my divorce, but will see. Cali's go back to CA so you'all don't f---up another place. Hat's OFF to the VFD!! Later, DD

Agree with Alpine
Totally agree with you Alpine! You forgot a couple things in your post that the Californians are famous for doing............... They come here with their HUGE cashier's checks tucked inside their bras.......ready to open an account at the nearest bank and quickly buy a place they've always dreamed about having.....in the boonies, small town, quiet and lovely.......then they get bored........oh, maybe 6 months to a year down the road..........they want that mall, that market-place, the cinema-plex and on and on.........but they also start whining........Californians love to whine.........they call the local news/newspaper and whine about those awful, nasty, vicious coyotes howling and keeping them awake all night long.........not to mention that those nasty, filthy coyotes eat their little poodles when they are walking them...........they want the state government to do something about it and now!!!!!! Kill those nasty coyotes they scream! They whine about the filthy, ugly and smelly javelinas........those rotten pigs come into their yard and eat their $100 bush or $200 roses!! They want the government to do something about it.........kill those pigs while your at it they yell!!
Well I say bring on the coyotes and the javelinas!! And the bee swarms, and the rattlesnakes, and the mountain lions and anything else that will help get these SNOBS with their big bank accounts out of this state!!

CA versus others
I was born & raised in California. Too many people coming in. Husband moved me & 4 kids to state of Washington. Small town on a big island that now even has a Walmart! All kids now grown & moved to greener pastures. Now I want to be near at least one of them. Minnesota. No. Montana. No. Arizona here I come. Specifally Sun City.

Yup thatll be the I-40 Chevron. Its a very good place to hang out and very few if any of the locals here hang out there. Mostly just the "passersby" localize there.
Paunch Johnson(the owner) USED to have a good Subway franchise in there but i dunno if it is even still a Subway or even if the food is the same as it used to be becuase i never go in there. Havent been in there in ages.
But yea, that is ... or WAS a really good joint for food and stuff.
About the cowboys, you would probably never see much of them becuase they are either out on the ranches or spending thier "off" time in the 2 local bars. MOST of the cowboys are VERY freindly and most keep to themselves.
As for the drug dealers, most, i think, are the same way for obvious reasons. They stick to themselves so i dont think youd be bothered by them either or at least not to the best of my knowledge.
Your biggest concern here(in this area) would be the wrong idiots gossiping untrue stuff about you or whatever as that can really HURT. That is what has hurt alot of innocents here.

Sorry to sound naive but do the coyotes really snatch up and eat dogs? I have a small dog (20#'s) and a large one (100#'s) and they're like my kids. I grew up overseas and the wild life is totally different where I come from. Is it inadvisable to let dogs run freely on the ranch land out there in Seligman? Even during the day? Help, I need your advice about this!

Yes, coyotes eat dogs. It happens in the suburbs. I don't know how it works out on the ranch. If there are coyotes around, keep an eye on your dogs!
