Are the coyotes mainly out and about at night or during the day?

both during the day and during the night. coyotes are nothing to worry about tho UNLESS thier very hungry then they can become very aggressive but usually if you leave them alone and dont corner them then they will not bother you. One day i was walking across a feild here outside of seligman in broad daylight and i came face to face with a coyote. All he did was run off in another direction. Now if it had not been an open field where he could get away then he would have definately attacked me.

Default Happy Homeowner

I've lived in Bridge Canyon Country Estates for 2 years now. It all depends on who you are and what you're looking for. Everyplace in AZ is just building up & up & up. I like small towns with land and open areas. Everytime I find one it starts booming. AZ is not what it use to be! With Luck I found this place. It was a home that needed fixing up a little and now it's done and all there is to do is watch the wildlife, the view, the birds, roaming cattle, on & on. The best way to describe the area is the show "Green Acres". Everybody waves if you pass on the road. And waves or stops to talk as they go by the house if you are outside. I need to have water hauled. All I have to do is call a company in town and they send a truck to fill the tank and it costs less than city water. Houses are really starting to build up around here so I guess the word got out. Lots are for sale everywhere. The only thing to complain about is it's a long drive to shop for things. All you have to do is go less often which suits me fine.
The only problem now is due to age and illness we need to move closer to family. For the bad things I've read about this place all I can say is I have no complaints! It all depends on who you are and what you want. Green acres or All in the family.

Wow, lucky escape for you! My dogs chase everything that moves. By the sounds of it it probably isn't the best idea to let them run loose!

It doesn't matter where you're from or where you're going, if you move (especially out of state) you will be confronted with stereotypes. I'm a native Arizonan (Zonie), and when I lived in California for 5 years (1997-2002), some people seemed shocked that a product of the AZ school system could read! They thought we have rattlesnakes and coyotes in our back yards and carry six-shooters on our belts...just ignore the gossip, most people are decent and will accept you for who you are. As long as you aren't moving into a small town, that is (which Tucson certainly isn't).

Bill,
I can help you out somewhat on this one! My husband and I used to live in Kingman, which I recommend you stay away from! The weather was great and I thought the landscape was beautiful, but it is a drug-ridden, dirty town. We had actually purchased some land in Seligman in the same area you're talking about (can't remember the road name, but it was between the old highway and the freeway), but ended up reselling it when my husband was transferred. He works for the railroad and when we lived down there, he maintained the tracks between Flagstaff and Kingman so we learned a lot about Ashfork and Seligman. Ashfork is nasty and dirty in my opinion. The people were not friendly in my experience. Seligman seems a lot friendlier (probably b/c they do get tourists) but I know for a fact drugs are rampant in both towns. We had planned to send our kids to the Christian school in Williams. Williams is beautiful- nice and small and the folks are friendly. A little touristy, thanks to the Grand Canyon right up the road, but at least they have the basic amenities. The closer you get to Flagstaff, the more snow you'll get. If I had to go back, I'd move to Williams in a heartbeat. It's about a half-hour jaunt up the road to Flagstaff if you need more than just groceries, but still somewhat cheaper housing. I definetely wouldn't recommend AshFork, Seligman would be ok since you don't have young children, and Williams is great. Just my opinion- hope that helps!

There is a 240 acre parcel of land south west of Williams that builders are (are going to be?) building a gated community called Escalante at Williams Mountain. Anyone know anything about that?
I wouldn't be so worried about the "gun-toting" cowboys. They're on your side, believe it or not! And I'm guessing Seligman locals wouldn't appreciate anti-gun newcomers, so I'd keep a little quieter on that one, ha ha!

As far as AA's comments- you go, girl! The Californians are doing the same thing in Washington & Montana. So what do we do, then? We move away, trying to find a place we can afford w/ no Californians. So then I guess we're not a whole lot better than they are, right? But there sure are a lot less of us! Hang in there girlfriend, and keep up with the honest comments!!

I agree with Racechick...

Seligman is nice to drive thru but the town is VERY small (1,000 or less) and there is absolutely nothing out there. Meth labs love the spot as it is remote and nobody is around. Honestly, I would NOT move there if you are up in age, as the response time for an ambulance or getting to a hospital would take almost 1 hour. The nearest hospital would be Williams or Kingman. There is NO Wal-Mart coming to Seligman, that is a lie. Kingman, yes, but not Seligman. The town was happy to get a Subway gas station. That is the ONLY store in that town!

It would be 30-50 years before Seligman would see substantial growth. Large towns like Prescott can't even sell property today. NOBODY IS BUYING! So, Seligman would for sure suffer even more in this market... There are SO MANY homes & lots for sale in Prescott that they currently have an inventory DOUBLE that of what was available in 2006.

Also, Seligman is a WATER HAULING COMMUNINTY. In other words, water is NOT available due to the well depth being over 1,500+ feet deep. THAT IS A MAJOR PROPERTY VALUE KILLER.

Remember, simply because something is inexpensive (ash fork, seligman) doesn't mean that it is a great deal. There is A REASON why land is cheap (middle of nowhere, no infrastructure, no jobs, mobiles, dead-end town, etc.) Just drive thru AZ and you will see dozens of "great deals" on vacant land but it is in the middle of nowhere.

Also, you BETTER BE ARMED if you move to Seligman. Response time for police could take up to 1 hour. NO JOKE. Seligman does NOT have its own PD as it is a dink town. You have to wait for DPS or County. There is A REASON why the "cowboys" and pretty much everyone in Seligman and Ash Fork carry guns. If you don't, your life and well-being are at jeopardy. DON'T BECOME A STATISTIC especially with the meth heads and crack heads in that area.

Smile Cemex is building in Seligman

The company Cemex has secured a 7,500-acre site 15 miles northwest of Seligman. Here is a good reason to hang on to our little piece of the high desert.

here is the link

CEMEX Plans $400 Million State-of-the-Art Cement Manufacturing Facility in Arizona
