Hey folks, my fiance and I are thinking about going on a honeymoon in AZ, we plan on getting married in June and going on the honeymoon to AZ that month. However, I realize the heat can be ridiculous at times, so we have opted to go to the Sedona area. We hail from Rhode Island, a much different place than Sedona, AZ I'm sure! So tell me, what exactly is there to do in the Sedona area? Food, nightlife, sightseeing, nature walks, shopping, etc. Any information would be great!

Sedona can be pretty hot in June with average high temps in the 90's. If that works for you it's certainly possible to plan your outdoor activities early in the morning or late in the day to avoid the worst of the heat. One of my favorite hiking trails is the west Fork of Oak Creek, which is located north of town on Highway 89A. There's also great mountain biking all over that area. Submarine Rock and Cathedral Rock have great trails in the vicinity. There's also jeep tours available if that interests you. Hopefully some others will chime in with hotel and food suggestions, that's really not my area of expertise as I am usually just up there for the day hiking and biking.

The last half of June is the hottest time of year here. Temps in Sedona could be 100+ easily. It is still very dry though so nights are cool. Sedona has some nice resorts where you can lay low during the peak heat of the day. And look into cabins on Oak Creek. There is a lot of shade there and the cool air drains from the higher elevations making it nicer.

Flagstaff would be the area to visit in June! It's only about a 30 minute drive south to visit the Sedona/Oak Creek area, but much cooler in Flag since it's higher altitude. You could visit Sedona and then head back up the mountain.

Here is a good website for Sedona. Lot's of info. The hot air balloon rides look awesome (and a little scary)!
