Move to Arizona and be happy, but don't delude yourself thinking you're moving to a "moderate" climate, unless if you're only living here seasonally from November until March. "Moderate" it certainly ain't-- it's hotter than hell! You'd be going from one extreme to the other. If you want "Moderate," you have to go to Southern California by the ocean. Oh, and forget fishing, unless if you plan on moving to northern Arizona (which gets snow-- so I guess you can forget that!)

Check out the climate info for Benson and/or Sierra Vista. SE Arizona is surprisingly moderate for the SouthWest. You will on occasion get some snow - but it should happen infrequently and vanish quickly. Average highs for the hottest month (June) will be in the low 90's while the average high in January will be near 60 (a bit chilly at night though).

Note that the Whetstone/J-6 area just west of there is a bit higher and cooler (3/4 degrees or so)

please don't let your wife go out in the sun without a *strong* sunscreen. The sun is no joke!

There is all kinds of fishing here - in the lower elevations. I go almost every week.

There is all kinds of fishing here. I go almost every week. But I would suggest somewhere like Las Cruces. There are already too many people here.

Phoenix area (1/2 -3 hours): Lake Pleasant, Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Roosevelt Lake, Apache Lake, Lower Salt River, Bartlett Lake, Alamo Lake, Horseshoe, San Carlos, Lake Havasu, Martinez Lake, Yuma canals, Lower Colorado River. There's several park lakes (ponds) in Phoenix metro stocked with bass, trout, and catfish. Also, the two lakes in Estrella where I live are loaded with bass. For whatever reason, I don't fish them much. There are a couple other communities with decent private lakes too.

Further out: Lake Mohave, Upper Colorado, Lake Mead, Lake Powell, Patagonia, Parker Canyon, several trout lakes around Prescott, couple dozen trout lakes on the rim.

There's something like 250 lakes in AZ maintained by AZ Game and Fish. That's nothing compared to Minnesota's 10,000, but we make up for it somewhat in that almost all are on public land with unlimited shore/camping access, no houses and no crowds on weekdays.
