Default Buckeye

Hi all,

I am wondering what your opinions are of the Buckeye area. My husband has been offered a job there and we plan to relocate to that area before the end of the year. I do not yet have a job lined up but I do administrative assistant work and don't expect to have a hard time finding a decent job. I am in hopes not to have to travel into Phoenix but I will if I need to. Right now I travel about 45 minutes to work so traveling 45 min to an hour is okay. Maybe we should look at something in between Buckeye and Phoenix. We will rent an apartment for now and not buy a house. We are not bringing children so schools are not a concern for us. We are hoping to find a fairly quiet area. I would love some honest feedback on that area. I think I asked this question before but did not get much feedback. Maybe I am posting in the wrong area, if so, I apologize.

Buckeye is not too far out for you to find a decent job. It's growing like a well-watered weed.

Buckeye has annexed so much land area, that by the year 2030 or 2040, it will be bigger than Phoenix itself. If it all goes as planned. Pretty much everything west of the White Tank Mtns from I-10 all the way up to near Wickenburg will be Buckeye.

The town itself is still run by about three part-time employees. I'm exaggerating, of course, but being in the construction industry, I have to deal with the unbelievably long and drawn-out process of approvals and permitting. There's no shortage of 'backwards'-ness working here. Every time I pull up to Town Hall, I expect to see Barney Fife, Andy, Opie, and Floyd the barber.

On second thought, maybe it was the year 3040! LOL

Buckeye is nice, small, but as mentioned, growing... all the west valley is growing. If you are not too far from the 10 freeway, it's about 16 miles into phoenix... I believe.

I am not sure what the work is like there though.

Thank you for the replies. We are coming from Maine and although I like being in a city my husband does not. He is absolutely a small town kind of guy. I think that is beginning to sound like a good area. I don't mind living in a small town as long as I am not far from the city.
