Wink Remember this come voting day....

The commercials are ALL leaning toward their issue and may or may not be telling you the entire truth. Please do your homework before voting for a person or issue.

For example, the ads for 201 that state the non-smoking ban is for your health... ok, sure, no smoke is good for you, however, with the way this state is growing, and the amount of exhaust that is being put into the air, that too is not healthy. This you breath in 24/7, not the occasional tobacco smoke from a bar or restaurant. I lived in Los Angeles, we had days where the pollution was so bad they recommended that the elderly and children stay inside for health risks. This is a real problem, not occasional tobacco smoke you may run into.

I am amazed that when I look around at the surrounding mountains that they are hardly visible anymore. Yet all we ever hear on the television is how unhealthy smoking is and that we need to get it out of the public.

And in regard to the new tax they are proposing for tobacco, let's remember back to the big tobacco lawsuit, less than 3% of the 250 BILLION was used for what it was meant for... Read where it actually went...

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Investigat...ory?id=1282675

Now, when they say that they want another .80 cents per pack to help children, you need to ask, where did the other money go that was suppose to help the children.

Tobacco is a hot issue that politicians use because it's not that popular, just as they use children to further their cause, but in actuality, who are you hurting? The tobacco companies? NO, the actual smoker. It's bad enough that I have to pay over 4.30 a day for a LEGAL product that is more addicting than heroine (according to medical studies). If tobacco is so bad, make it illegal. Penalize the pusher (big tobacco), not the user.

So please people, when voting, use your head and do your homework... don't fall for bureaucratic lies and misrepresentations. All these people care about in reality is lining their pockets.

Thank you.

Broc.

I don't see what lobbying for a smoking proposition has to do with the intent of this forum, but since you brought it up:

In spite of your effort to trivialize it, second hand smoke is a proven danger to everybody who has to inhale it. The matter is quite simple: Yes on 201, No on 206. Smokers should keep their trashy, addictive, unhealthly behavior out of public places, period! I just hope that RJ Reynolds will fail in its effort to confuse this issue.

And the exhaust from your car is? Do you like not being able to see the surrounding mountains? Would you not agree that breathing that in 24/7 is not very healthy? If you say no, then we will have this conversation again when we get just like So Cal where some days you can barely see 50ft in front of your from the smog.

Take care.

A discussion of auto exhaust is irrelevant to the smoking referenda.

smoking kills, it killed my aunt, she never smoked but was subject to her husbands second hand smoke for years, died of lung cancer. My husband and i smoked for 10 years, quit 11 years ago, best thing I ever did for us and our kids. Smoking is terrible and kills. Exhaust is bad to and if the have a measure for that I will vote it in as well. Smokers need to get a clue.

you are missing the point. How many nights do you go out to eat per week? How long are you in the restaurant?

Now, how often to you actually breath...

I am saying that everyone makes a big deal over one issue but ignores the others. If someone was really concerned about the health of the people they would legislate all of it... not just one item.

Anything can be deadly to you... Look at the broccoli scare... at least you can see the smoke to stay away from it. How about all the alcohol related deaths each year... maybe we should ban that from bars and restaurants as well. I mean I don't drink, but can be killed by someone who does. Why is that fair?

Actually, back to the point. These people just want to fatten their wallet. They had 250 Billion to use to protect the children, they don't need another .80 a day from me on a product that is already over taxed.

well we cannot ban cars, so other options will have top be found, but we can make going out to resturants and bars safer, smokers can just go outside, like i did.

and people that drink and drive can go to prison, we cant throw smokers in prison for killing people with second hand smoke, so just make it harder from them to do it. And I dont eat broccoli! and I wear contacts, so when I do go out besides breathing it in it makes it hard for me to stay in a smoke filled place because I cant see!Quit you will feel better and smell better, we did, wasnt that hard, saves alot of money as well.

No, but we can ban alcohol so us non-drinkers do not have to feel the effects of drinkers. Think I want a drunk driver to hit me? I ride a motorcycle as my daily transportation. Talk about a health risk
