If you live near Avondale, never go to Toyota! They treat their employees horribly and fire people for no particular reason. My fiancee worked there for over a year and in that time, at LEAST 10 people were let go without any reasoning behind it. Then, a week ago, they told him he was being promoted and wa sunder review for a raise. Today, they decided to let him go. We are trying to save up money so we can actually get married, but now, because of Avondale Toyota, he will probably be unable to pay his bills until he finds a job, and we will have to push back our wedding date. The owners only care about themselves and they only keep their employees long enough to not offer them any incentives.

Welcome to the world of Arizona car sales!!! LOL
My brother chose this line of work, and it is VERY common for management to turnover the entire sales staff every six months to two years. They fire the sales manager, who in turn is responsible for his team of salesmen, and it's a done deal...he goes, you all go. I couldn't stand that type of existence...not knowing for sure if you'll be working at the same place next month. But my brother is established enough after 15 years of this profession that it barely bothers him. He knows that's just the way it is, and also knows that the axe is gonna fall somewhere else, so there's openings there. He also has enough contacts so he's rarely 'between jobs' for very long. By the way, he's made a six-figure income for the last seven years, so maybe it's worth the headache of moving around like that. |

Car sales jobs generally all over have a high turnover rate. This is not just limited to Arizona, believe me. In fact, so do many other jobs at your average dealership.
Because I dont know the whole story here, I can only speculate. Im not taking anyones' side here. The dealership could have been overstaffed, having financial difficulties, management problems, etc, etc, etc. It really sucks that he lost his job, but sometimes it is necessary for a business to cut back. I hope you the best in finding new employment. You might try Tempe Dodge if thats not too far for you. This is from a customers' perspective, but I have dealt with them alot, and they seem to be a great dealership that really has it together. |

Kandirae: I can understand being upset, but there are always 2 sides to every story. My husband currently works at Avondale Toyota, and has for some time. From the time he began interviewing for the job, started working there, and to the present day he has had only good things to say about the company and his fellow employees. Perhaps the reason your fiancee didn't know the reason that other employees were fired is because Avondale Toyota doesn't believe in putting personal information out for everyone else to know. And to say that they fire people before they can receive incentives is also false. After the 90 day probationary period their employees are offered health insurance as well as other benefits. It can be a difficult time when you are trying to start a life together, but it is best to learn now that blaming others doesn't make it better or easier for you. Opinions like that only cause resentment and foster poor morale. Could it be these same kind of opinions are what cost your fiancee his job? Hopefully not, but if so I hope he will use this as a learning experience and do better on the next job and in the future. Hope he finds something soon, and all the best wishes to both of you.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I have worked for Avondale Toyota since they opened, and after 35 years in the Automotive business, I can tell you for sure this is the only Auto Dealership that I have worked for that really cares about their Customers and Employees. This dealer knows that his Employees are what make our Dealership successful. Yes, I have seen some employees lose their jobs, but each time it has been for doing either something dishonest, or stupid, and this dealer will not tolerate either. Our Sales, Service and Parts departments are totally transparent to our customers, and anything other than that will not be tolerated. We are trying to change the way the Auto Business is conducted, and judging from our customers remarks, they like what they are experiencing. It is never easy to lose one's job, but hopefully your fiancee will search his thoughts and find that the reason he was let go was because he was doing something that he knew he shouldn't have been doing. |
