Quartzsite
I am considering a move to Quartzsite, I would appreciate some info. from someone living there. I need to know what the property taxes run and looking for a small house to buy, a one bedroom would be perfect. I also will be looking for employment of some sort to keep me from being too bored.

It is pretty desolate and I believe mostly a rest stop for tourists and people moving from CA. Lots of RV's and rock hounds there. It looked to us that the only source of employment was the Subway. I could be wrong and others may be able to give you more information.

Nice place, however home values used to be insane there for somewhere in the middle of nowhere. No jobs, not much to do.

Quartzsite is just a truckstop on I-10 and not much more. There's just gas stations and fast food places along the freeway and not much in the town itself. Quartzsite fills up every winter with snowbird RVers and there is a large flea market along with arts & crafts and gem & mineral shows under and near a big tent. In the summer, it's hot as h*ll and there's not much going on.
Check out Blythe, CA on the Colorado River about 22 miles west of Quartzsite. It's a bigger town. Ehrenberg, AZ is just across the river from Blythe and you can check that out also.

I drive past Quartzite every couple months and have yet to stop there. From the I10 it looks mostly like old mobil homes, trailers, campers, shacks, and lots of other fairly run down buildings. But then I have yet to stop there. Not my cup of Pepsi.

Every year the city grows from it's nothing to around 100,000 people. I have traveled though during this time and it is weird to see RV's Everywhere...And I mean everywhere.
Other then this event it is a small town. Near Blythe and the Colorado river. 120 or so miles west of Phoenix.

Quartzsite, AZ
I started going to Quartzsite, in 2001 as a Snowbird. It is a fantastic place, I have met many people. Quartzsite has a fulltime population of just over 3,000 people in the summer, the population grows to over 1 million for the winter months. The Town is cleaining up Q. and it is definately worth a visit. Those people who just drive by and don't take the time to get to know the town...well they should. We now have most of the things you would find in any small town, barber, hairdressers (3 or 4), Doctors, medical clinics, fire and police stations, animal shelters, many places to eat. Well worth the visit.

Quartzite is home to the huge annual Rock & Gem festival, which brings people from all over the country, for some odd reason. Otherwise there is just nothing there: dirt, sand, rocks and scorpions. It is hotter than Hades, as well. Look before you leap. There are so many desert towns that are so much nicer, if you want desert. But always check an area out in person before you decide to move there...and do your looking in July & August,
