How to locate teaching jobs in Yuma, AZ
Everyone keeps saying that Yuma which is on the California border in Southern Arizona is desperate for teachers. However, I haven't been able to locate any job announcements. Does anyone know where teaching jobs in Yuma would be listed?

Try calling the Public Schools Human Resource Office in Yuma. That should be the fastest way to find out about vacancies.

My husband is also planning to teach in the Phoenix area, so I have been hunting sites that have job vacancies.
From what I have found, the best places for job info is to go to the school district that you want to teach in as they have the current vacancies online at their websites.

I would not recommend teaching in Yuma. I am a teacher here and lost my health insurance temporarily. There are many schools in this area where teachers are treated poorly. I would certainly not recommend teaching in any of the cities surrounding Yuma either. I have also taught in Somerton and Wellton. Both schools were real hell holes. Many teachers aren't happy here due to low pay and intensive paperwork and lack of support.

I wasn't told about a test I needed in order to receive a contract until a week before school started. I kept asking everyone I knew if I had everything I needed for my certification and they said everything is fine. As a matter of fact one of the people who worked in HR told me that I could go ahead and apply for certification with the deficiency I had. A week before school started I found out otherwise. Then I found out that I would have to start the year as a long term sub and lose my health insurance.
