If you want to live in in the Social People's State of Commiefornia be my guest. 13.9% state tax, around 10% sales tax most places. Incredible auto registration and insurance prices. Probably good socialized state health care. Worst gun laws in the country. It is a failed state and social experiment.

We have a saying, "If you can't make it in 29 Palms, Palmdale or Victorville... move to Bullhead City."

Oh, 29 Palms is about as hot as Bullhead. Work is about as hard to find. It is not the most robust economy, although I hear it is getting better. The military is downsizing so rentals might be cheaper.

Yeah, not sure it's worth it to live in 29 instead of on the Arizona side. I also have an iguana and there are no exotic vets within like 3 hours of the Joshua Tree area so that's a big downside for me to make a 6+ hr round trip to the vet. There are a few supposedly good ones in Vegas which is doable if I'm somewhere along the river, as well as an exotics vet in Kingman- so that'll influence my choice against the CA side now. Gotta think of my child, LOL

Dolan Springs is delightfully "dead" right now. The Grand canyon Bus traffic is not stopping at the "Ranch" any more in town. I was happy to see that it's very vacant except for the flea market vendors on week ends. The little shops survive, somewhat. There are a few eateries, and some nice people here, mainly a retiree town. The hardware store, and bank are gone. We have a POffice. The grocery store could use an upgrade, for certain. We used to have local growers who sold veggies. I have seen that the county has jumped on a few owners to clean up their yards. There is still a major trashmo eyesore on 11th street east. Hard to believe rats would live there, let alone, a human life form.

It's a quiet town with a clean potential. I can't badmouth the people because very few of them ever cause trouble. They may be poor, but most of them have a kind word. As for cheap property, it's here. There are fixer uppers, and some "good to go with toothbrush in hand" dwellings. Most come with an acre. Taxes are reasonable. Clean air. Millions of stars. There are snakes, two legged, and otherwise in every town. People are only as happy as they are able to adapt.
