That had to do with the language barrier, not racism. Good heavens.

Many churches do that. They offer services in English in one room, Spanish in another. Our old church was like that. There were several Hispanics that could speak English that were always in the English-speaking service. I mean, do you really think that, in a church where Jesus teaches love, that there would be racist segregation? hahaha Cmon, man.

Maybe so....if you stopped there......the rest of your words have so many holes , more than substance. There is more racism in Religion than anywhere else ! And from what's happened in the American south the last 60 years is a sad story.

I like the live and let live feeling of the Southwest. Many New Mexicans are very kind and genuine people, they tend to be less douchey and less judgmental than many other corners of the country. It's hard to put a finger on it, but I think there is just a very humble element in this state that I would miss when I move.

I am eventually moving to the Grand Canyon state in about 9 months, provided the right opportunities present themselves when I'm financially ready to relocate. I love the desert and I'm pretty well adapted to the climate and terrain out here, but Albuquerque is just a tad too isolated for me so I'm setting my sights on the Valley. For myself, I just find there really is a lot more to do in Arizona.

It's definitely a good thing AZ and NM were split, they had very different destinies.

The "Land of Manana" as the white people who live in NM are fond of saying.

This is true. NM has its own unique social personality. You won't find anything like it elsewhere in the country.

Ah yeah, they got issues here. Like this morning...

and some other bizzare stories over the last 3 years.....

In Albuquerque, protests against police shootings and charges against officers - The Washington Post

The words swat standoff and police shootings are fairly common vocabulary for news headlines in Albuquerque. Balloon Fiesta is Albuquerque's most esteemed annual event.

I'm sure Arizona probably does have its fair share of bizzare or disturbing crime headlines. But for NM being a state of only 2 million people, these types of headlines happen more frequently than expected. A quick search on this site will show crime rates in most New Mexico cities are well above the national average.
Study: New Mexico is nation's second-most dangerous state | KOB.com

It's sad, as there's a lot of good people here.

The crime rates across the country seem to be based on population only. ALASKA, our LARGEST state by sq. miles has the worst crime rate in most of these surveys . New Mexico comes up second and again has fewer people per sq mile . Without looking at the numbers more in debt, using other factors like people per sq. mile. the ranking could be different. The other problem using state wide numbers is in states that are large and with concentrated populations in one or two cities. It would be like the state of Illinois crime rate and the City of Chicago driving up the crime numbers.

Sure, but lets not pretend that most cities in New Mexico don't have a higher than average crime rate, because they do.

Farmington, Albuquerque, Roswell, Las Cruces, and even Santa Fe have crime rates well above the national average. Illinois's crime rates would be a lot more skewed by Chicago.

Desert_SW_77, if the crime here in NM bothers you so much, you're more than welcome to move to Arizona.

I am moving to Arizona towards the end of the year actually, but I'm not leaving here because crime. I was just stating the reality of crime statistics here.
