Western Oregon is beautiful; the problem is all of the rain! Prepare to stock up on your Vitamin D suppelments.

I guarantee it rains less here than in NE. No real snow either. It stops by late May, and we don't see rain again until almost November.

---------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I am in Southern New England in a State that is beautiful where I live, but the rest is really going downhill and there are no job opportunities at all. My State was actually one of the two that lost population in the last census. Anyway the area of Arizona that seemed most desirable to me was Flagstaff, it had everything I was looking for, active city, plenty of 20 something chicks to woo , full change of seasons and plenty of snow in the winter, beautiful mountains, etc. Unfortunately as I looked through the job listing, all of the opportunities seemed to be further south in Scottsdale. I really don't want to go near Phoenix, to hot, to crowded, but Scottsdale looked really nice from the pics and I was going to apply for some jobs in the area. When I mentioned this to the people in the Flagstaff forum on another site, they all turned mean and angry and told me if I ever went to "The Valley" to please stay there and don't ever ruin Flagstaff or take all of their water like all the other snobs from Scottsdale and California. I didn't understand the hostility , really if there were opportunities in Flagstaff it would definitely be my first choice.

Now after reading some threads in this forum, I hear that all of the people in Scottsdale are snobby BMW driving phonies, they sound a lot like my cousin actually. Also I read that all of the women there have enhanced.... things From the pictures Scottsdale looked incredible, but I only like girls who don't have any enhancements, smaller is way better to me actually. Is Scottsdale really that bad? The Flagstaff people were so miserable when I mentioned Scottsdale that I actually gave up on Arizona altogether for a while and was looking at Reno and Carson City. That too has its drawbacks so I am reconsidering Arizona or even working in a neighboring State and staying where I am, though honestly I would probably buy a house I saw for 1.2 million in Sedona if I won the powerball. Any opinions / comments on Arizona / Scottsdale / Flagstaff or whatever? Any normal people there? I have driven through the Southern portion of your State before and from what I remember it was incredible. In terms of the landscape alone, It is the only State I would ever consider that doesn't have the ocean. Fell free to give me guidance Arizonians.
Scottsdale is terrific! Now that there are so many nice neighborhoods throughout Phoenix, Scottsdale doesn't have a "lock" on the snobbiness. I don't think it's so bad, but I live here. I'm not a club hopper so I don't see the snobbiness some speak of. I have a feeling if you came to Scottsdale, you'd love it! Stop by for some coffee!

Scottsdale doesn't get "snow." We've had a "dusting" of snow, but not like what you're thinking. I'm from Buffalo, I know snow.... LOL But seriously, you have the wrong idea about the weather here. Scottsdale doesn't get snow.

Flagstaff has a lot of "tree huggers" who dislike the valley. The valley pumps a lot of money into the flagstaff economy so I really don't get it other than they are just jealous of the big homes that have gone in. Flagstaff has all the amenities of a large town but with a small town feel. Keep looking. Flag is a great place to live. Don't let them run you off.

Prescott ia expensive to live in . same for Flag(staff). Flagis also home of NAU (Northern Arizona Uiversity) .so youknow that there will be plenty of chicks . a few watering holes also . if you are into snow you might be out of luck most years . lately at least . this year Flag has plenty of it and "Snow Bowl " is stocked with snow bunnies .

Default Theres more than Scottsdale

Scottsdale is nice and just like any city has its good areas and its bad areas. It has its snooty people, down to earth people and those that you try not to stare at. There are other areas that are just as nice as Scottsdale. Tempe will have the 20 somethings your looking to woo. Tempe also has a neat lil strip called Mill Ave thats close to the University that you can bar hop and walk around. The suburbs here literally run into one another. Your driving in Scottsdale and turn the corner, see a sign that says welcome to phoenix go a block and turn again to see a sign that says welcome to paradise valley only to hit another block and see one that says your back in scottsdale. There is Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler, Glendale, Cave Creek to name a few. I suggest moving somewhere neutral like scottsdale or Tempe into an apt then explore and find the spot best for you. Tempe is way cheaper than Scottsdale.

Also every suburb is always holding a festival or doing something esp when the weather is nice out. There is ALWAYS something to do and usually free has free admission. Almost every Suburb has something to offer

I have met people from Flaggstaff who dont like the city slickers and think that people from the valley suck. I dont understand that but maybe if you go to Flaggstaff you can influence them to open theyre minds = ) Each region of AZ has alot to offer. Southern AZ is different from Central AZ and Northern AZ is different from them all. SOme places to visit are Lake Havasu, The Grand Canyon, Tombstone is cool if you like the movie, The Sonoita- Elgin area has wine tasting, Payson and Pinetop have beautiful lakes scenery and camping.
Hope this was helpful
