Did you know about this:

We checked my house and office back in the '80's. I'm sure they still sell kits to check it. But I'm not sure if we should do it again.

We don't have radon in most areas. Microscopic trace amounts.

I have had it tested in each of the homes I've lived in here and never had an issue. If you're going to test for radon, be sure you also test for mold as that is much more likely to occur than radon, even in the desert, due to water leaks etc.

Radon Facts - what is radon? Where does radon come from? Who discovered radon? Is radon harmful to humans?

Back east we had to do the whole radon testing as part of the home sale. One house I owned had mitigation systems for both air and water and it was never confirmed that either was necesarry.
The problem is the science is not all that conclusive. The CDC says 21k a year die from lung cancer and everyone re-uses this number over and over, but they also say that it might be 8k or 45k. That's a huge margin of error.
To me radon sounds far worse than it is and causes undo panic and expense.

I think I would be concerned in places like the Rockies where it is much more prevalent, but here in AZ... not so much.

Yes, the great Radon scare. And now you need a hazmat team to clean up mold, something that's been with us since the dawn of mankind.
