Hey, you guys out in Dolan are always complaining that your sales tax dollars don't get you any services. And now I find we're grading your roads?
I sold land at Dolan Springs back in 1959 from Los Angeles, the subdivision was called Lake Mohave Ranchos, 5 acres for $595, $10 down, $10 a month. Roads were bladed in, lot corners staked and that was it. In 1962 Pat Brown was elected governor and his real estate department in effect banned all out of state subdivisions; seems they were experiencing people moving out of California even then.

With the bypass bridge being built, land values have skyrocketed in Mohave County. Took some 50 years but now the land is worth something.

Default Dolan Springs

The town got a Dollar Store a few months ago. I live in Dolan Springs. It's a mixed bag. We have high rents for independent merchants, and so many of them go out of business. We just got a nice little eatery called Mystic Munchies. People are beelining there in order to drop some pounds, and get healthy. It's a good alternative to greasy foods and beer. Some property prices have plunged. Of course, the real bargains might be located next to some people who don't take care of their homes, and land. I moved here so that I could have clean air, and see the stars at night. I don't mind water hauling. The people generally help if you need it, and leave you alone if you want to be left alone. We have a "dark skies" rule here, but there are a few people putting up lights that are way too garish. Overkill. Invasive. Blinding. Luckily, we didn't get that silly prison put in.

The critters can be dealt with a whole lot easier than some people. Nature teaches us how to respect her. I put up a bug net around my bed. I did see a 7 inch centipede by my computer one day, but that was a rare thing. And I had a gila monster stop by to eat ants. I put up a snake fence by my porch. I enjoy heading to Vegas a few times a month. It's a nice town with potential. It needs people who care, and a plan to keep taxes low. It isn't fair to tax people for improving a town if and when we do.
