As for textbooks I couldn't agree more. Most of mine were PDFs and very cost effective (and that was years ago) and I presume that will be the case moving forward with Universities because E publishing is so much more affordable to publishers and the like.
Math 09X is "introductory" algebra - " Basic axioms, linear equations in one and two variables, operations on polynomials, rational expressions, graphing of linear equations and the solving of linear equations. "..

The admission requirement for our four-year institutions is the class above that - with ever-more silly (and useless) math requirements for college graduation.

If the underlying goal is to teach students to use "logic", then one might expect some resemblance in what is required for graduation and one's chosen occupation. Why waste time (and lots of money) teaching a skill that will never be used?

For decades now, we've been hearing how far "behind" the US education system is, and much of that is based on comparisons with countries that really teach nothing but math and science. It's a lie that just keeps getting repeated.
