McCain's "reaching over" to libs may get him more votes in the primaries... although they're from people who won't be voting for him in the general anyway.
Democrats and independents have given McCain the nomination because they can "live" with him as president if the democrat should indeed lose.
Fat chance since conservatives will be sitting this one out en masse.

I am a TRUE AMERICAN and I believe you are very closeminded to think that it means Evil. Yes Osama did an evil thing but I am sure there are others who have that name who meant no one harm. If we we were going off names I guess you shoot bullets.

Compare McCain's agenda to Obama's agenda of Socialism, and that should answer your question.

It makes no sense for conservative Republicans to "sit out" the 2008 election (one of the most important & influential elections we've had in many years) just because they disagree with McCain on some issues. It makes no sense to allow a socialist minded Democrat to take over for four or eight years and then hope for an "angry white male" type of revolution in 2010. If you don't like McCain, vote for a third party or write in someone. If that isn't suitable, then quit whining and support the LESSER of the evils ... which in this case is McCain so far.

To others who hassle me about relating the names Obama and Osama, well keep in mind that Obama's father is a Muslim, and his mother is an athiest, but Barak had a Muslim upbringing, which is scary.
Look at Obama's voting records on Middle East policies and you can pretty much get a good idea on how things might go with him as president.
On the subject of Socialism, yes the evil that I see in it is it will cost all of us hard-working Americans. It should not be up to the government to fix social issues, it's been tried and we ended up with a big mess called Welfare. That's why I'd prefer to see McCain in the White House instead of Obama, or any other Democrat with a socialist agenda.

Many kudos, Mike! I'm in agreement 100%. Having Obama or Hillary Clinton as President (along with a Democrat controlled Congress) would lead to more amnesty for illegals than McCain ever proposed. It would also mean more welfare type of programs and socialized health care. Granted, our current privatized health care system needs some tweaking, but putting the gov't in control of it would slow things down even further and make matters far worse than what they are now.
For anybody who is on Medicare (or has a parent/family member who relies on Medicare), you know what I'm talking about. Medicare is often months behind on sending statements ... and they are sooooooooooo SLLLLOOOOOWWWW in paying the doctors! We need less government in our lives ... not more!

Being that the Republicans held both Houses of Congress as well as the White House from 2001-06 when we were being inudated by illegal immigrants---------maybe it is time for a change.
And; if the Dems blow it...............there is always 2010 for at least Congress.
NOTE: I am a registered Republican----------in the Theodore Roosevelt vein.

Illegal immigration became a major problem because both sides of the aisle (including Bush and his cronies) were very lax on doing anything about the influx. Republicans who dislike McCain but still support Bush need to realize that Bush was supportive of guest worker programs and amnesty for illegals. Government's role is to secure our borders, and Bush's so called "prioritiy" is to send troops to police the world than protect our own country!
I can almost guarantee that the Dems will blow it. They usually do. I just don't want several years of socialist policies under a Hillary or Obama reign, along with a Democrat controlled Congress. From the way things look at this point, that's what lies ahead.

As one who helped tangle the phone lines when Kennedy/McCain/Bush tried to push amnesty through last year, I'm of the opinion that amnesty won't happen with a Democrat in the White House. Even if Democrats control the House and Senate, there are still enough Republicans to stop it. And they'll fight the amnesty they'd be bound to go along with if their own prez McCain was pushing it. They'll fear for their own jobs when they see that McCain loses because not enough in his own party would vote for him. If we conservatives all suck up and vote for McCain, not only does that guarantee amnesty, but it sends the message that the Republican establishment can throw out whatever s#@! it wants and we'll just go along with it. I'll happily vote for Obama or even Hillary if that's what it takes.
But you're sure right about the socialistic agenda to come with Obillary. Instead of continuing to pay enough taxes to support a Mexican family of 15, I'll be retiring early and getting on the receiving end

Well watch for the bombshell that was just announced by the NY Times and will hit all the papers Thurs AM. It's about a purported affair John McCain had awhile back in DC with a younger woman. This will be interesting to see how this plays out. Apparently McCain hired a high priced lawyer to get the story squashed. We'll see...
