Sadly the ones taking 7 year loans are the smarter of the bunch. I am sure a larger majority are taking a 3 year lease with significant mileage restirctions

I can also see a theme to this thread. Any proof you show that is against their interest, it is automatically deemed "leftist." Better off not to show off any sources at all.

OR....Put $500 a month away in a 4% ROR Mutual Fund and pay cash every 5 years for a vehicle. Have 4 vehicles paid in full including a Class A Motor Home. Financed people are fools. Outside of a mortgage....pay in cash or DO NOT BUY IT !! You do not get a title until it is PIF. The masses are RENTING vehicles and are forever on the conveyer belt trading in and getting more in debt.

Some people lease for 3 years and then pay the present value in cash . Those that DO THAT...to me are smarter than financing for 7 years.

Sorry, I don't remember much from my high school economics class. It was a long time ago.

In any event, we still live in a country where working hard and working smart and being productive will earn you a lot of money.

This is in opposition to, say, the former Soviet Union (a socialist country through and through) where doctors were earning the same salaries as janitors.

Sure, there are some social safety nets here. Many of them that you list are necessary and admirable. Some (such as welfare) are not.

“...the money for Social Security and similar programs that the government robs from us also robs us of personal autonomy and freedom to use our own wealth. We’re forced to become beggars seeking crumbs from paternalist political masters. Over time individuals are morally ground down, becoming servile subjects rather than self-responsible citizens.

Yes, this is socialism all right! No wonder Bernie and his brood love it!”

How you and this Hudgins idiot equate Social Security to the Soviet Union is just insane

One year is more than enough time. Somebody with basic skills & education who is truly going through a financial hardship due to being unemployed can usually find work within a few months maximum. I'd even propose reducing the cash payout to 6 months. It would save taxpayers more money, and it would be a way of holding people accountable for their own lives. The welfare state is so enormous that at this point, any kind of reduction would seem like tiny baby steps ... but every little bit is a victory for us conservatives & Libertarians.

I've seen a fair share here who don't seem to have any kind of embarrassment using EBT cards, and it's usually those with children. The self entitlement attitude among many of these breeders is astonishing. In their warped minds, they believe that the world owes them a living for procreating, and the childless ones are selfish.

If a person was starving, why not just turn to crime and get put into the jail system. I assume prisoners are still getting meals?

The nature of capitalism means there is competition. And unfortunately, not everyone is going to be able to get a great education and earn a high income. There will always be people who have to do blue collar low paying jobs. This is the United States of America. We stand for what is better. This is not China or India where the poor have no social welfare and starve and die on the street. We should do everything we can to ensure the poor have adequate food, clothing, healthcare and shelter. It is a human condition. We have an obligation as Americans to take care of the less fortunate. I would much rather my tax dollars go toward assisting low income families than paying for prisons and going to other wasteful expenditures.

What I fail to understand are the very people who support Republicans and conservative politicians are the very ones who would probably benefit the most from state assistance and Democratic policies in general. Dumb good ole boys are okay with their jobs being outsourced as long as gays can't marry and they can buy AR 15's without a background check at a gun show.
