After many many years of talks Lake Havasu is getting a new Mall. It looks to be coming along really good and fast too. For more information on Lake Havasu click Home (http://www.newtohavasu.net - broken link)

I had to make a run down to Home Depot today and was amazed how huge the JC pennys building is.
Looks much bigger than any I have ever been in. March

We'll have to check it out. We are going to Havasu in April for my wife's, and a bunch of her girlfriends, 50th birthday celebration. They all graduated from LHHS back in the 70's. It's hard to believe how much it's grown. Havasu lost it's appeal for us in the 90's.

I catch your drift; LHC had almost a 'free spirited' vibe till about 2000-------then the money came in (with no real increase in wages) and screwed everything up.

The town went from '1960's SoCal/Mayberry RFD' to 'dog-eat-dog' in a matter of 2-3 years, culturally speaking

The mall will be in real trouble when the tourist stop showing up. The boycott because the corrupt justice system will drive away at least a third of the business.
When Havasu depends so heavily on tourist's it does not make sense for the city to drive away the business of the mall. A few dollars made for the city court cannot offset the millions tourist bring into a mall that is distributed to the local economy. The city mall was a great idea and it is too bad the city administration torpedoed the success before they started.

Well, I'll certainly go, as it'll be the closest mall to my home in Kingman. I've been through LHC plenty of times for various reasons and never had a problem with law enforcement there. Of course, I haven't had any run-ins with the law since I was a young whippersnapper with a big mouth that used to get into trouble a lot.

The new mall in Bullhead City is actually closer to most of Kingman (depending where you are in Kingman). It will have a greater diversity of different stores not available in Kingman or Havasu. Havasu's mall is mostly just the same ol stores moving to a new location. Kingman already has a super walmart, JCPenny's, Petco ect, the same stores going in Havasu.

Additionally, the mall in Bullhead city will not be patrolled by the NEW this week (just in time for the mall) Police special revenue unit, a new unit litterally put on the street to increase fine revenue.
Bullhead City's mall will be patrolled by a police force that actually fires the bad cops in its midst and whose city judge is a lawyer.

Yes we do have a JCpennys in Kingman but its nothing like the new store. We don't have a Dillards. The speed limit on I-40 is 75 most run 83 its a straight shot to mp 9 hook a quick left and wham you are there. (be on lookout for burros crossing the road though)
Bullhead is not so streamlined to get to.
