We just hit 100 percent humidity on Wednesday according to one local weather station. Did I feel it? Nope. The humidity out here is nothing compared to where you are coming from. You will definitely feel the heat in Yuma like we feel it here during summer! Good luck with your decision.

I just moved from Yuma a couple months ago if you have any questions. and are you looking to rent or buy? what types of things do you like to do. Yuma pros is its right next to Mexico , like just a few minutes away if you are interest in going there lots of people from Yuma go there to go to the doctors and dentist because they cannot afford it in Yuma. Prescriptions are cheap there too. I personally have not gone to the doctor there or dentist or purchased any meds there but if I move back to Yuma I will be looking into it since we have no health insurance. Look into Tucson too, and if you like the mountains, Sedona/Flagstaff/Oak creek that is where I was born. Its beautiful there , very majestic in Sedona, in fact many people travel all over the world to go there because they believe its very spiritual. If you decide on Yuma, you have California about 5 minutes away, my house there is literally walking distance to the California border, you have the Cocopah tribe and their casino and the Quechan tribe and there casino. The mountains are nice between Yuma and San diego. Julian is very nice.

I would love to be close to Mexico, just to be able to explore another country, experience the culture, etc. of course, I would need to brush up my Spanish. The difficult thing will be the heat... I don't love it when its really hot. But I figure its manageable if I can stay in air conditioning or water most of the hottest months.

What everrrrrrr! My first time here was only three-four years after I was born. Gotta pic of Dad and Goldwater drinking a long neck beverage of some sort together. Probably root beer. Or not.

AZ is quite varied.
Phoenix and Tucson are not most of AZ although they have the biggest populations. We personally never liked the bigger cities anywhere or the crowds of people that go with them.
We have lived in Safford, Tucson, Hereford and Sierra Vista and my first introduction to the state was military service with the Army in 1967 at Fort Huachuca, AZ (Sierra Vista).
If you don't like heat elevation is the key. When Phoenix is hot, Tucson is about 10° cooler and Sierra Vista is another 10° cooler than that.
We live at just over 5000' and we are some 10-15° cooler than Phoenix on a hot day. Yes we get a little snow once in awhile but it does not seem to bother many and does not last long.
If you need AC to live in the Valley, plan on being indoors by around 9 AM from June to Sept.
