Smile Buckeye - Soon you will be my home.

I'm usually one who is very anti-sprawl. And Buckeye is sort of like the child of the sprawl that spawned sprawl which then spawned more sprawl spawns.

(Sort of like an 'If the spawn spawned a spawn' occurance. )

Anyway, in August - my mother decided she wanted to move out of Glendale, we checked our options. She suggested Buckeye, and well, I sort of protested it. Not being of legal age to move out on my own without her consent (Close, but no dice. Sigh..) ..She gave me the usual "YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE" answer that parents seem to like. So, I fumed for a while. But, I've been looking into things buckeye is researching and looking into. It seems that they're not going to become another icky bedroom community like Gilbert or El Mirage.

They want to become the center and MAJOR employment center of an entire new metropolitan area in the Hassayampa Valley. Which - Would be pretty cool, I think. They're looking into light rail traveling down the Sun Valley Parkway, and connecting to a possible commuter rail system running through the city's center. (I've always liked the idea of commuter rail in the Phoenix area.. I think it could do alot of good.)

They're also looking into a town lake project - sort of like what Tempe did. And, evidently, if did happen to follow through with it, they would break ground some time in 2007.

Among other things - a downtown renovation project, sort of like what Glendale did, and what Peoria seems to be in the process of doing.

So - I'm not so against it now. I think it will be different than the other communities. Sprawl, yes. But - Different sprawl. (Is that even POSSIBLE?)

We decided to go with a new build near Miller & Maricopa. Bit of a different area, compared to Tartesso, Sundance, and Westpark.. But, I doubt it will turn out to be a BAD area.

And on that note, the reason I started this thread. I want to say that.. WATCHING THE PROCESS OF YOUR NEW HOME BEING BUILT IS FUN!

Good luck to you.

Supposedly 2 million people will live in Buckeye by 2030. I have heard similar numbers for Hidden Valley (S of Goodyear), NW Peoria/Wickenburg, Queen Creek/Pinal County. Other predictions are that Phoenix and Tucson will be joined. And Prescott will be part of the Phoenix metro area. If they all come true, Phoenix would be nearly the size of LA in the next 25 years. Wouldn't that be nice?

Don't know if "nice" is quite the right word...
