You're hours from a major city...(that can be good and bad)
You get snowbirds for half the year.
Shall I go on? LOL

Hello my husband just received a job offer from Yuma and i was wondering about the housing we lived there a long time ago on the base. We both like fishing and the outdoors. And enjoy cookouts with friends, we hope to make some good friends there.

If it's snowbird season, why can't we shoot em?

I love our snowbirds. But . . . if you've never heard this song, you must.

This I will say about Yuma: people either really like it or flat hate the place.
I was there once in late 2003; and to be honest, I was very surprised--------in the good sense.
I expected to see dusty roads with no sidewalks, etc. Got there and said: OMG; this is a real city with things like decent shopping, etc. I had to replace my cellphone that day and the Sprint store was quite helpful
OK: I know about the heat (worse than the Phx area), just that I must be a desert rat at heart
The one thing that did concern me was all the aviation fuel being burned by the military aircraft.
All in all; if I were to move back to the Colorado River, I would give Yuma a shot
