When I moved here in March, I went and got my license ASAP (and it was the easiest process I've ever been through, literally under 10 minutes from walking in to walking out, and no vision test required). I waited to register my car, though, as it was located out of state until July, and I was renting a car until I had my own vehicle back. When I went to register it, there were no questions asked about the delay or about whether the car had been located in the state or not. I was also very surprised at the relatively low cost of registration, at least compared to the other states where I've lived. My car is a 5 year-old Mini, and it cost $175 for one year, compared to the $800 it cost in Louisiana when it was 3 years old (and that was with LA improperly crediting me for tax I'd paid when I originally bought the car in another state, so it should have been even higher).

But yeah, legally, you are required to register within a certain number of days of establishing residency. As long as you don't get pulled over, there PROBABLY won't be any issues with waiting, but you never know for sure.

Not by much. Phoenix metro is driven by one thing: real estate, and to attract money away from high-tax areas. When the downturn happens, Phoenix will once again be left in shambles. It offsets this much like other Red states, pushing taxes down on everyone else.

By the way, telling 1%er's to leave your state = bad idea. No one my wife or I work with are from AZ, because most natives are dumb and this place has abysmal educational opportunities, you know, things taxes pay for.

I had NM tags on my car for 10 months after moving here. No cop ever bothered me. My tag for a 2015 Hyundai Veloster will be right at $200. My NM tags were only $45.

Registering my vehicles is astronomical, but my property taxes make for a very easy check to write. Give and take.

1%er's who refuse to pay their fair share of Az's incredibly reasonable taxes aren't "contributing in other ways", they're deadbeats. No different than illegal aliens working with stolen identity paperwork and not paying taxes. 0% sympathy for the tax bite on the penile extension.

I didn't know Arizona laws, 10 days after residency, and applied late, but not by much. They were very nice and helped/explained everything to me. I have a 2010 Nissan Cube and can't remember what the initial fee was but this year it was $68, which is comparative to what I paid in Minnesota.

If you want decent roads you help pay for them. Otherwise, go back to where your from and pay for those roads.
