The Indiana study showed that the average household increased their energy budget by 6% a year. Maybe the rest of the nation needs to stop playing time games. Does Hawaii even do it? Where they sit the state has about 12 hours of day light and 12 hours of darkness year round. Also Alaska is so far north that daylight savings wouldn't help them out to much.
The State of Indiana are observing DST now!

I believe you mistook that for analog TV being switched over to DT Digital TV in Feb 2009. The government has already set dates for 2009 and 2010 for the start and stop of DST for those years.

Yep, the Navajos are smart!

The Navajo Nation Community of Arizona observes Daylight-Saving Time, where the time is shifted forward by 1 hour, resulting in a 6 hours difference behind GMT. The Hopi Nation, within the Navajo Reservation, does not operate time changes.

I don't think smart is the reason they do it. It's to keep the whole rez, part of which is in New Mexico, in the same time zone. The Hopi rez is entirely in Arizona and so they go along with the rest of the state.

Default Actually.....

If you think about it, Arizona is ALWAYS on DST. We should be in the same time zone as Nevada, etc, but our summer time coincides with their summer time. In actuality, we do not set our clocks BACK.

I was told that DST was begun for the benefit of farmers & ranchers way back when (maybe Depression era? Not sure)...allowing more time for out door work during the growing seasons and also for the business end of it. Also, kids used to work the farms & ranches and so by adding daylight hours in the spring & summer it also allowed them to be home from school, etc, helping on their farms. They did not have all summer off as kids do now. I got this information from an Economics class...I am assuming it's correct, but could be way off. If so, blame the text book
