I guess the best thing about Arizona is the lack of the ban ban ban culture of Progressiveness, in fact local governments are prohibited from becoming agents of such culture. I know governments of all levels around the world are under tremendous pressure to comply. In California some restauranteers would literally "bite my head off" should I request for a straw with my drink since the 2019 only on request legislation, as those cups they use are extremely filthy, especially if thousands of lips touched it earlier.

Wow one cop for every 10 people. Is Havasu really that dangerous?

I am surprised this happens in Arizona

You'd think Arizona is not embracing this kind of "socialism" compared to its progressive neighbors. Where the government literally owns one's children. This time it wasn't even an issue of race.
Though it appears municipalities in Arizona are almost like mini states in its power.

I do agree drivers in the Phoenix area are particularly bad, and won't slow down in rainy weather. But once outside Phoenix is much better.
I haven't spent too much time there but I haven't seen a Tesla in AZ yet.
Apparently like in Mexico at least border towns most vehicles I see are more of the gas guzzling type.

Based on one posters reply on having breaks when it is not 110 outside. I am guessing starting school in July is better than keep them in till June in Arizona? And that schools and school buses in hotter parts of AZ are all well air conditioned.

Again...I don't understand this concern with our school schedules. Plenty of districts outside of AZ go full year-round school...most of ours are a modified year-round. We are in school for the required number of days and those with modified year-round have longer breaks outside the traditional Summer Break. Summer Break is about 6 weeks long (Late May/Early June - Late July). Why would you want your kids out of school for 3 months? The gap is too long and most kids get bored trying to find things to do after the first few weeks? This "traditional" break dates back to when the kids needed to help on the family farm during the summer and serves no purpose in modern society.

Just wanted to mention that I see a lot of Teslas on a daily basis. Mostly Model S, a growing number of Model 3, and a small number of Model X. I live in southwest Chandler and work in Tempe, just south of the 60. So maybe it depends on region.

Perhaps I am just unlucky when I visited. I know that people do drive Tesla’s in Arizona and Baja California maybe i just don’t see them when I was there.

I do notice this modified traditional year round schedule trend is going on around the country try after the downfall of year round schools.
Though I be curious why not do it like U.K. or Canada, where there are half term breaks in between but the main school year still runs between beginning of September to end of June. Not including summer school.
Though I guess probably it’s because June is hotter than July in Arizona, as the monsoon cloud cover tempers with the heat.

I am concerned when one poster states about they need so many police in Havasu.

Havasu is still a party town. That lake gets crazy when the weather warms up and all the Californians show up in their $750k+ boats and act stupid. Tie that in with pot being legal on the other side of the lake/river and there is a need for a disproportionately large police force.

As far as Teslas...we were in Payson about a week ago and there is a HUGE charging bank in front of the DMV. Seriously like 15 chargers. I have never seen a Tesla in Payson but apparently there is a need?

Except it is perfectly legal. It's called a two way left turn lane. And works well if the driver know what they're doing.

Quote:
28-751. Required position and method of turning
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn shall do so as follows:
1. Right turns. Both the approach for a right turn and a right turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.
2. Left turns. The driver of a vehicle intending to turn left shall approach the turn in the extreme left-hand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in the direction of travel of the vehicle. If practicable the driver shall make the left turn from the left of the center of the intersection and shall make the turn to the left lane immediately available for the driver's direction of traffic.
3. The director or local authorities in their respective jurisdictions may cause markers, buttons or signs to be placed and may require and direct that a different course from that specified in this section be traveled by vehicles turning at an intersection. When markers, buttons or signs are so placed, a driver of a vehicle shall not turn a vehicle other than as directed and required by the markers, buttons or signs.
4. Two-way left turn lanes. If a special lane for making left turns by drivers proceeding in opposite directions has been indicated by official traffic control devices:
(a) A driver shall not make a left turn from any other lane.
(b) A driver shall not drive a vehicle in the lane except if preparing for or making a left turn from or into the roadway or if preparing for or making a u-turn if otherwise permitted by law.

Spring Break was a non event this year. I expected it to be horrible. But I barely noticed there were any college kids in town. Ive heard from someone else that its been declining for the past few years. Now boat people... yea. There are morons with boats you could hear from space.

It's, what, 3300 feet in elevation gained from Fountain Hills to Payson, over 67 miles, so I imagine most Tesla owners would welcome a supercharger there, even if they started out with a full charge. Payson's a crossroads, too.
