Default beware of yuma!

I saw some of you were planning to move to Yuma. I have tried on several occasions to move there since 2002. I was lied to about promised employment. I couldnt find work of any kind. I went home broke. In 2004 I tried again. I was kidnapped this time in broad daylight. Thrown down a boulder filled hill. My cellphone was stolen, and a diamond ring. I was drugged, threatened daily, beaten up, and raped. I escaped by miracle. I was nearly dead after weeks of torture. I went home with post traumatic stress disorder, depression, and night terrors. For 2 years I tried my best to get the police to do something. At least question the "man" who did this to me. I had his name, address, phone number, etc, They would not even question him. I lost my 11 year relationship over this hellish nightmare. I cannot strongly recommend everyone to stay away from Yuma. I even got parasites from the recycled waste water my kidnapper made me drink!!! There are many nice cities in Arizona, Yuma is not one of them!

I am sorry this happened to you. I don't recommend anyone moving to Yuma either and as a matter of fact, I am praying I can find a teaching job in the Midwest so I can make my escape. I had a stalker try to break in to my house and the police wouldn't do anything about it because the man told them that he was just taking out the trash and my house was just on the way. They acted as though I wanted him there at 12:30 a.m. I was hiding in my bathroom scared to death! I hope you like the city you are living in now.

What part of the midwest? Check into Cedar Rapids Iowa. I lived in Iowa most of my life. Its quiet and safe. There are fun things to do as well. Im in Colorado right now. Its ok. I miss small town life. Im glad I still have a home in Iowa. Population less than 300.

This story reminds me of a bad B movie. Sounds fishy and like someone just doesn't like Yuma.

Terra,

I'm very sorry for what happened to you. However, it sounds like one person is to blame, not Yuma.

I love Yuma but may be making an exit soon. Within the last month or so my wife and I have both been recruited for jobs in Havasu.

Yeah, the kidnapper was to blame. I was just walking past Barneys on my way to the post office. A person should be safe to walk the streets at 2 in the afternoon. This man was not my friend. Not a person I chose to be in my life. He was a drug addict. I am blaming myself for being stupid enough to move there. And I blame the police for not helping me. Now that he's gotten away with it at least ONCE, how many other girls has he did this to? Will he or has he done this to a child?? This is serious. This is a dangerous situation. When this happens, the police are supposed to investigate. Not just let it go. Rape is a crime. Kidnapping is a felony. This man got away with serious crimes!!!

Sounds awful. So how did the attacker kidnap you in broad daylight? Were there no witnesses? Did you scream and attempt to flea or fight? I've always been told when somebody tries to kidnap you that you should never go willingly. Once the kidnapper gets you alone, your life is over. So you've got to scream and fight for your life. Did you do that? And nobody came to aid, or called the police? THAT would be a serious grievance against Yuma, but that's not what I hear you saying.

Also, how'd you manage to get his name, phone number and address?

I was kidnapped once too, here in good ol' Yuma. I was beaten and robbed, and thrown in the trunk of a car, all in front of at least 10 bystanders. No one cares about anyone in this town, no one will help you. The gang kiddies and tweekers will never "snitch" on their buddies, and the cops act like your victimizing is trivial and annoying to them. In Yuma, you gotta protect yourself. It's almost lawless out here.

I was walking out of the r.v. park where I was staying. My car was broken down, and I had some important mail I had to get at the post office, so I had to walk. This "man" was hanging around the park. There is a big hill with lots of huge rocks on the corner of Fortuna and Foothills Blvd. Across from Barneys. To the south. He was following me. Before I knew it he shoved me down that hill. I went end over teacup and hit my head on the rocks bad. More continues...
