A friend of mine has 10 acres just outside of Pearce. It has a small trailer and outbuilding on it.
I am currently out of work in Atlanta and thinking about moving out there.
Does anyone have any recommendations for me?
Thanks,

We have a small full-service grocery now, which sells local produce and meats as well as the usual stuff, for those of you who think there is no shopping in "the country"! Benson has one of those huge Walmart Super thing-a-majigs. There is a doctor's office, and a dentist right here in town, and specialists come to both Willcox and Benson, so health care is about as good as most small towns anywhere...better than most, actually. Our hardware store is great, and we have 2 auto parts stores and 3 busy mechanics shops! You can golf every day of the year because it doesn't get as hot as the desert. I don't think we ever hit 100 this year. If you are a bird watcher - I have 50+ species just in my own yard! Most properties are horse friendly, and you can ride from Pearce over the mountains all the way to Tombstone without crossing a paved road. Pretty nifty! There are a lot of activities in the area, and for you golfers, there are seven golf courses within an easy drive, including one right in Pearce-Sunsites. The course in Naco is a par 6. Our schools vary from Performance Plus, to High Performance based on their national and state test scores. We have college branches in both Willcox and Benson. So, come on down! We can stand a little more development without killing our lifestyle! It is a big, big valley. And guess what folks, despite the earlier comment in this forum, almost all of us speak English almost all of the time, even those of us who are of Hispanic descent!

I have just returned from a one day trip to cochise county. I was unable to see Sunsites or my property, but was able to see Benson and Tombstone. I must say that I felt very good about the area. It is just what I am looking for and will be looking forward to my stay there in July.
I have been all over AZ and I think so far I feel the most comfortable in Cochise County. It is similar to places in Idaho, but a lot warmer.

Glad to see the region has earned another fan. As I've I said many times on this board, I'm of the opinion that SE Arizona is a undiscovered gem - with (outside of the mild coastal areas of SoCal) perhaps the BEST weather in the entire continental US - not too hot in the summer, very mild winters, and even relatively green (at least compared to the rest of Southern Arizona).

I think in the future it will be a very desired place to retire/live. I could not be happier with my purchase.
The amount of wildlife was amazing. I never seen so many spieces of birds and I was only there for one day.

I agree with you line for line..............
Except the proximity to an increasingly unstable Mexico spooks me.

Well we have packed the POD and on Monday, May 16th (my 60th birthday) we will be leaving for Pearce with a stay in Benson first until our house is built.
We have been planning this for 10 years and hard to believe the day is almost here. We are looking forward to leaving Massachusetts behind and becoming part of Arizona.

Feel free to stop in Illinois and kidnap me. Maybe after the monsoons we can do a meet & greet. I'll be out in the fall, just trying to coordinate my schedule with Helldorado Days.
