From Tombstone to Benson, etc, it is really a rather nice desert. Scenic, I mean, with "tolerable" weather. I am not a hot-weather lover but if I was I think I'd look around Benson...it's pretty in a stark sort of way, and they get some seasonal change as well as seasonal greenery and wildflowers. Benson has a lot of history and is kind of a quiet, fun "earthy" place. A friend of mine just bought acreage near Tombstone for his retirement (he checked there and Benson and got the better deal near Tombstone) and it has amazing views. Really nice area. Good luck to you!

Out of reps for you at this time, but thanks for sharing. I'm off to the next album.

No problem.

While you're there, take a look at my tropical albums - or maybe "My Personal Favorites". It's become kind of a hobby of mine to take lots of photos when I travel and then post them online to help other folks get a feel for the place and decide if a trip there is "right" for them - so for example, on our last trip to the Cook Islands, I went around one day and simply asked the owners/managers of the various resorts if I could take a peek inside their units - and EVERYONE said "yes" so I spent the day touring everything from $1,000 NZD/night "to die for" units down to $17 NZD/night hostals then put the pictures in an albums specifically set up to show others what these various places look like to an unbiased visitor (rather than a travel agent).

I almost felt live visiting if meeting the burro was a sure thing.

That's nice of you. I always appreciate looking at other people's pictures and reviews before I go somewhere or do/buy something. That's why I try to share what I know, too.

Oh, my... the other albums are gorgeous! I can't sit in my cube and look at them... :-( That's masochism.

Well, that burro is older now (that was taken back in May of last year), but I'm pretty sure he's still around (along with maybe some new babies).

The burros of Oatman crack me up. It's almost as if they have a 9-5 job. Everyday without fail they apparently wander into town to be fed and every afternoon (when their bellies are full) they wander back out into the desert. They are now the town's major draw. Like many of the old Route 66 towns, Oatman is nearly dead - and though it has some western character, it's very run down. Little by little though the tourist money is helping to fix it up and the renewed interest in route 66 is helping quite a bit.

And like Benson of course, it has some history - including the fact that Clark Gable and Carole Lombard spent their wedding night (of all places) in the old Oatman Hotel - a tiny little place that now has a peice of Hollywood history.

Haunted Oatman Hotel in Oatman, Arizona

Yeah, those photos are pretty darned nice (if I say so myself) - especially the Bora Bora and Aitutaki shots. I'm not taking the credit though - the fact is, those places are soooooooo incredibly beautiful that it's hard to take a bad shot (and I took a LOT of photos to whittle it down to those pictures shown).

Been to Hawaii and love it, but those South Pacific islands just blow Hawaii away.

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack this Benson thread, so I'll leave it at that.

No I didn't come across those pictures before, some of them are just breath taking!!! Still looking at them, man seeing all of these makes me want to move right this minute!!! Thanks so much for sharing them!

I do have a question though (may seem like a dumb one), I see a lot about J-6 in searches but it don't show up in google as a place, I assume is it just a name of a subdivision?
