Frankly; I do not care what the people in the Bay Area think. If our more conservative attitudes here in Arizona keep modern Libs out-------so be it.

I am a Wash DC native (unfortunately) and some people there take offence when that city is referred to as just 'DC'--------oh well.

Pros:

1. They have a Starbuck's.
2. You can start a new AA/NA chapter there, if you wish to.
3. Nice little town and nice folks there.
4. Cottonwood and Sedona aren't that far away from it (you can travel pretty easily to these "larger" towns).

Cons:

1. Definitely have to have a vehicle to get around in (not much walking space).
2. They moved the county jail there (don't get in trouble. It's not a very nice jail either. You don't get to go outside or anything).
3. Gets way too cold during the fall/winter seasons.

Homes values in Camp Verde have fallen off the cliff with more downside very likely. I'm seeing Camp Verde homes built in 2005/2006 selling for 35% off their original sales price. Camp Verde people paying off a mortgage at 2005/2006 prices are seriously screwed if they must sell and move. Property/school taxes are surprisingly high for the quality of life/amenities to residents. Realty agents in the area are now using sales pitches that sound for all the world like "come steal a bargain", and this is after they rode the "better get in and not miss out" commission bonanza during the run-up. Until the large number of foreclosures are cleared from the Camp Verde market, it's dire times for must sell sellers.

Here are some online stats about Camp Verde 2009:

As of 2009, Camp Verde (zip 86322)'s population is 11,230 people. Since 2000, it has had a population growth of 12.41 percent.
The median home cost in Camp Verde (zip 86322) is $151,240. Home appreciation the last year has been -17.20 percent.
Compared to the rest of the country, Camp Verde (zip 86322)'s cost of living is 4.42% Higher than the U.S. average.
Camp Verde (zip 86322) public schools spend $4,022 per student. The average school expenditure in the U.S. is $6,058. There are about 20 students per teacher in Camp Verde (zip 86322).
The unemployment rate in Camp Verde (zip 86322) is 8.40 percent(U.S. avg. is 8.50%). Recent job growth is Negative. Camp Verde (zip 86322) jobs have Decreased by 5.20 percent.
