moving to lake havasau city
We are moving from Alaska to Lake Havasau City Arizona and was wondering if the boat population & noise on the lake and colorado river (Parker) is terribly noisy? If we purchased a home on the riverfront, how loud is the boat traffic and is it always real busy on the river with boat traffic(winter months)?

Hello,
I actually live in Bullhead City, but I can give you some info. Of course you have the few crazy ones that go out boeating in the winter, but they are pretty few and far between as during the winter months there are pretty much only locals and snowbirds. Not too many tourists and even though we have pretty mild winters, it is still a bit too chilly to be out on the water too much except maybe in the afternoons for a couple of hours at most. If you purchase a home on the riverfront, the beauty and serenity will completely outweigh any noise there may be.
Good luck!

We are used to boating in colder weather so I am thinking that maybe winter time in HLC would be ok. Do you know if you can boat from the parker dam down to the town of Parker. Are there any bridges in the way or can you motor on down from the dam? Is there much lake front property for sale on HL?

Honestly, I really cannot think of one house I have ever seen right on the lake. There are some very close to the lake, but I can't remember actually seeing any right on the lake. Have you ever thought of moving to Bullhead City, AZ/Laughlin, NV (about 75 miles from Lake Havasu)? There are plenty of BEAUTIFUL River homes here with docks etc. As far as boating from Parker **** I am really not sure. I wish I could help you there.
Happy New Year!

You can't boat to town in Parker. The Colorado is about 1/2 mile north of town proper - but there are houses on it so, you can wave-run or boat the river. Over on the lake, you're a few miles from Parker - have to head east out of Parker a few miles then north on the road that eventually leads to Havasu - you can boat to the bar, though - used to be called Charlie's, the second largest bar in the country until Gilley's burned down in Texas. I say this realizing I haven't been there in a while - maybe something changed.

The weather in Bullhead really isn't much different than Lake Havasu. A couple of things though. #1 make note that Parker is about 40 miles from Lake Havasu (LHC) and there really isn't much in Parker. There's no Walmart or anything like that. Mainly a couple of restaurants and convenient stores, other than that it's a snowbird town. #2 When you do research the weather in Bullhead as well as LHC, please understand that these are both tourist towns and just about anything you will read about the weather will be BS...lol It is hot VERY H O T in both places. Ok, our weather is dry, very little rain (lucky if it rains once or twice a year, especially in BHC) but both towns get 125++ degrees and you will rarely find that anywhere. Coming from Alaska, you might find yourselves a bit toasty.
#3 I don't know if you'll be able to pull this link up, but here is a link for real estate in Lake Havasu as well as Bullhead. [mod cut - realtor website]
Just click where it says search public view and follow steps. Make note that you will not find a house on the river for less than $500,000. Usually at least 600-700 for it to be a house rather than a mobile.
Still, if you have questions let me know.

from bull head to LHC
can you motor boat from bull head to LHC and if not how about jet ski's? We will only be there in the winter months so I hope that the weather is not too hot then. I can't wait to come and visit, as we have never been there before. We have been to Las Vegas and Phoneix but not Parker or BH or LHC. I am a retired commerical diver and would like to sport dive. Is that a possibility anywhere on the lake? The price range was expected for a house on the river. Coming from Alaska we expect the high prices for housing. You can not get much here for $100,000. Our taxes are very high also in Anchorage town, thanks for the post.

you can boat from south side of davis dam to parker dam and from north of davis to hoover. I'm not positive if lake havasu is connected to the colorado river or just passes by there has I personally have never tried to go that far south on the river.
