Here are the few tidbits I know about Prescott Valley.
It used to be called Jackass Flats. It wasn't a derogatory name, but came about because of the wild burros that used to be in the valley - more grass and water in that area.
The Fain's basically owned most of the land Prescott Valley now sits on. There is an old Fain Road that has a couple of small older ranch houses off of it, but I think these were probably homes for the hired hands. If I remember correctly the Fain's ranched all the way up into the Verde Valley area beginning back in the 1800's, I believe.
Prescott Valley wasn't much of a town until the 1980's. I have friends that moved to Prescott Valley in 1981 (or '83 - can't recall for sure) but they said it was a town of about 3,000 population with one stop light.
How things change.

There's a brief history on the PV town website, but it doesn't talk about the Fains. Prescott Valley : History

From what I have heard, much of Prescott Valley was sold to unwitting people "sight unseen" by some unscrupulous developers way back in the 60's or 70's (maybe even earlier). Some of the "luxury lots" were even sold two or three times to different people and advertised as being much different than what the area really was. I'm not sure of my facts on this but one of the old-timers at the Sheriff's Office confirmed it for me. Might be some interesting stories there if one persued it

I've heard of this happening in Cordes Lakes. Also there was a "shady character" that did that with some of the properties in Diamond Valley. I've never of that happening in Prescott Valley, though. Some of the old-timers with the title companies can fill you in.

Actually, there's probably more than just a little truth in that. I went out and bought the movie about a year ago. I'm sure I saw it years ago, but since I lived nowhere near Prescott at the time I couldn't remember anything about the movie.
I think the area that Curly was levelin' for trailers must have been somewhere out in the Humboldt area. In fact, isn't Reata's Pass the same place in the movie where Curly is doing his wheelin'-dealin'?
