Default I'm considering moving to Yuma

I am thinking of moving to a Yuma RV park called Shangri-La RV Park. It is located off I-8 and S. Fortuna Rd. I see there are lots of stores and restaurants and even a Salvation Army store and US Post office on the same road as well. That is dandy and nice, however,I do not have a car right now. I would have to walk to the stores. I guess during the summer I could go very late in the day and avoid peak hour. I just wanted to know if there are sidewalks/crosswalks there. I know this sounds like a stupid question. Right now I live in a suburb of San Diego, in a nice little RV park that seems more like an apt complex, very clean and neat. It is near all and there is public transportation. The only thing I don't like is that there are lots of homeless people everywhere and they don't always stay clear of passers by. I get asked for change a lot and last week one apparently demented man was yelling gibberish and raised his arm close to my face calling my son a lunatic for no reason! It scares me to go outside. We recently moved here from a very small town in Southeast GA. We are natives of N.Y. and have been living in GA for five and a half long years. Another reason I want to move is that my son hates the school he's going to. I'm hoping Yuma would be better. I just worry about there not being any sidewalks(like Georgia) and nothing but cars zooming by and of course the extreme heat, that being last on the list as I am used to very hot weather. It gets really hot in south GA. in the summer. Please let me know about S. Fortuna RD,how it is and any other helpful information. Thanks!

My friend lives in Yuma and is a retired Marine. He works at the Marine base there and we went to Lake Martinez there in Yuma. It was a lot of fun!!!

If you live in town (in Yuma) then you have no problems. It's living outside of town that is boring... Lot's of great bars in Yuma!!! I had a blast!!! WOOOHOOO!!!

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be negative but it does suck here. I guess if you were into quads you would like it, but other wise no thank you...

there is another Yuma thread back a few pages I thinnk...go check it you!
Wow, you are super negative!!! You sure don't say that about Yuma when you are promoting and posting about their nursing shortage online.

Absolutely in agreement here! I don't know why some people are so miserable and are constantly putting Yuma down. If they don't like, get the heck out

Default What's With All The Yuma Bashing???

Yuma has been rated one of the best places to live in the USA! There is constant sunshine, no humidity, affordable housing, a low cost of living, great off roading, a wonderful river, a 90 min ride to ElGulfo beaches, and just a couple of hours to San Diego, LA, Palm Springs and Phoenix! It's one of the fastest growing cities in America!

Yuma is place were folks from the Phoenix area or Tucson stop for gas and or to eat on their way to or from San Diego and that's all. Yuma is not a destination for most AZ residents. Draw your own conclusions.

Default Yuma Rocks!

Yuma has the cleanest air of any desert city, and the most sunshine of any place in America! The housing is affordable, and traffic is way less congested compared to Phoenix, Tuscon or Vegas.

I moved to Yuma 2 months ago and I regret it. It's not THAT bad, but it's not great either. The only thing that keeps me going here is that I'm leaving next summer no matter what. I'll make the best of my time here until then. But once I leave, I doubt I'll ever come back!

As soon as I read your title I smiled. I don't think there is a soul out there that wouldn't be dissapointed in Yuma! I have lived in Arizona almost my entire life and I wouldn't want to live there!
The East Coast is beautiful. I was there last summer.
Arizona has a different kind of beauty.
Try another city before you decide Arizona isn't for you. Ahwatukee and Gilbert are a whole lot different than Yuma.
