Not Charleston
I came to Tonopah from Charleston SC. in 84 and I found my colleagues in the same situation. It dawned on me judge the desert as the desert. It is not Charleston. I have found wonderful things in the desert that I had never experience, Partly because I was not looking for the things I left behind in Charleston. After a few years I would visit Charleston and felt "how could anyone live in such a stiffling place. Confined, no view, Nothing but green slime crawling out of the swamps. Quiet a difference from the view "nothing out there except things that bite or stick you." Enjoy each day in Yuma, you can always go back to conneticut.

Time to move
Yuma is a terrible town to be a single male in. Single women should do well, as they are way outnumbered! Too many drugs and scumbags for a town this size.

Yuma
I think you're giving Yuma a bad rap.
I was there for a few days and it was fine for me!
Its in a good location halfway between tucson/phoenix and san diego/l.a. , not far from palm springs, and has some great recreation . Sure its not phoenix but dont move to Yuma expecting it to be like Phoenix . its a smaller city.

Yes, it is true, Yuma sucks... we had a little place there and we sold it after 1 year. I could not stand the dirty parking lots, about 95% are hispanics, they push, pull... in any store the Customer Service is the WORST EVER! There is nothing to do there, hot, miserable!!! If you are young get the heck out of there, San Diego is only 2 hours away..... I know some of you are going to be offended but I did not intend to offend anyone!

I've lived in Yuma, so I have some opinions about your question. I was assigned to Yuma for 3 years and I gotta tell you, I had no problem meeting nice women. I also never heard anyone complain about it either. Is it possible you were maybe not using the right approach? Some women don't respond well if you appear "pushy" or "desperate". You might try modifying your behavior and see if it helps. If you have any female friends, you could ask them if you seem abrasive. Also there are several books available that might be of help. I hope these tips help.

Yuma rocks!
You guys need to stop badmouthing Yuma! There are plenty of single women in Yuma looking for nice guys. Properties are undervalued, the sun almost always shines, and the scenery is spectacular. Get real already!

I can totally empathize with you !!! Im from Arkansas and have lived here for two years. I love it and hate love it hate it...cant decide should I stay or should i go back... Thats why my location says limbo. I have never been to Yuma... Im about to watch 3 :10 to Yuma LOL Anywho I love the Gilbert area and love some parts of Mesa. Maybe you should travel around and see what else there is to offer. One thing I missed SO bad about the SOuth is the Fall and to my delight gilbert has planted some trees that turn fall colors. They only last about a week and dont turn till december but I can also say that I was happy as a pig in slop when I was here in 60º weather and the rest of the country was frozen over and stuck in snow..not that I didnt feel sorry for them I did but I was outside with neioghbors enjoying the sun.....not to mention that Arkansas just got tatted up with Tornados making me happy that Im here once again = ) So chin up, Look for the positive, try to change the negative and if all else fails get in the car, crank up some tunes and DRIVE!!!! A Z has some of the most scenic drives to help clear ones head
