Default Lake Powell lake level?

I'm seeing conflicting reports about lake level trend, some say it's filling, others that it's continuing to dry up?

What do you know about it?

Inflow is predicted at about 120% of normal for this water year which will take the level up maybe 80 feet or so. It was a good winter. We need a couple more like this.

A couple more, OR a LOT more!!??

Second question, how far below the high water mark is current lake level?

A couple more would do it. The Bureau of Rec predicts a peak lake level for this year of 3628 (full pool is 3700). That won't be reached until July. It was 3609 yesterday. That is still about 20 feet below average for this date but 25 feet better than it was in 04 and 05. The overall rise will be about 50'.

Factoid:

There are currently 4,124,616,309,333 gallons of water in Lake Powell!

drwnorth - Lake Powell has been doing it's job very nicely the last 8 years of drought which is keeping a steady supply of water flowing to the lower basin states of Arizona, Nevada, California and the country of Mexico.

This year has been amazing to watch. For a couple of weeks the lake came UP 12 vertical inches a day. That is a half an inch an hour. I stood there and watched it a couple of afternoons. Camping over the week before the 4th we had to move camp three times as the water was rising on the beach so fast.

As of yesterday the lake was 67.5 feet below full pool of 3700 feet above sea level or 3632. 64. This year the thinking is spring runoff will not end until the first part of August as the spring was so cool. Currently the lake is rising at 3 inches a day.

I just got back from lake powell and the lake level is HIGH! its the highest ive seen it since ive ever been there. (we go 1 every year for about 5 years.) And when we were there it continued to rise about a foot a day. While we were there we found a spot to swim that had a rock sticking out about a foot on the first day we got there. By the time we left that rock was completly underwater, and standing on the rock the water came to my knees.
