Bugs and Swimming Pools
Sorry...I know the bug issue has been discussed ad nauseum, but can anyone tell me if swimming pools attract bugs? Would I have a bigger problem with one than without one?
Thanks all.

If you maintain your pool on a regular basis, you won't have a bug problem. It's those that let their pools go to the algae stage that has bug problems, primarily mosquitos.

Water attracts bugs, which attract preying bugs, which attract....
You shouldnt have a "problem" per se, but expect to find them in your pool from time to time. A quick skim job and youll be done. You might even find some scorpions in there, like my FIL does.

They attract mud daubers, hornet like bugs that take up water to make mud tubes for nests. Other than that, no.

This is true, good point!
Be also warned that black widows like to sometimes build webs near the pools, particularly in brush. Ive found two at my in-laws' place in Scottsdale, right next to the water. One of the webs had about 20-30 babies running around.

So did they get "the boot"? Or did you relocate them as humanely as possible? Tell the truth, now.
