Default 646 homes / 578 lots for sale in PAYSON!

I was looking at realtor dot com, and saw that PAYSON has 646 homes for sale, and in addition to that 578 LOTS! I left that area a year ago. Has the real estate situation up there gotten that bad??

I see quite a bunch are less thank 200K.

Deceptively pleasant until you live there, Meth & Strawberry shows 283 listings, 156 of which are homes, the rest I assume are lots. MANY in the 85544 zip are also below the 200K mark, with still some very optimistic sellers asking 300K for unremarkable 3BR 1BA "cabins".

I guess the dreaded Californicators aren't buying it anymore.

Actually, those numbers sound pretty good to me. Of course Payson is quite a bit smaller than Prescott, but in May we had a total of about 3200 active residential listings (including Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and outlying areas) with 171 sales for the month. The median home price has dropped from $255k in 2006 to $225k so far this year.

Poor Californian's. They got blamed for the growth and high home prices. And now most sellers would welcome a little California cash.
