Smile Dolan Springs AZ

Does anyone now anything about Dolan Springs AZ? It is a very small town and nothing is there. Probably going to buy my first home there. Love the scenery.

Sorry, but I can't provide any information about Dolan Springs, but I agree...I think it would be a neat place to live.

I love desolation, and it doesn't get more desolated than DS. And the views are wonderful...being able to see for miles and miles across the desert.

Every time I drive to Vegas, I want to pull off the main road and just wander around the area exploring.

Dolan springs is not so bad lots people live there and commute into Kingman for employment.
They have a fairly strong community atmosphere, get togethers etc
Long winded info below
FYI
There water system completly froze up this past week, The people who normaly haul water were out cause there was no water to be had. Had every tom dick and harry chasing broke and froze pipes.
This as posted elsewhere is out of the ordinary. I have been working for a local employeer and we have never had the froze pipes and broke lines the past 3 winters. Very unusal cold snap.
The hardware stores here in Kingman ran out of everything to do with insulating pipes etc. The other gotcha with the new homes has been the Pex (plastic) water lines they are running in the attics. they have been a major problem this week as most are not insulated. They freeze but don't break. Which is a good thing.

Wink Visted 10/26-11/1107

I visited my father, stepsister and brother who all reside in Dolan Springs. Coming from Iowa it was a whole different world. Dolan seems to have 3 divisions along the highway that divides it. Southeast where my brother is at, west where my stepsister and husband live, and northeast where my dad owns a few acres of Joshua trees, rocks and trailers that have no permits, or registration. He was notified this year that he has to remove them and clean the lot or he will be fined and the property will be sized. Most of the housing is trailers and many are abandoned or will be since many people are very poor. Dolan also has only a few private wells so most of the (rural ) people have to go into town to buy water and haul tanks in trucks.
I found all of the people I met really nice folks but so many problems associated with poverty. The visitors center was very nice and the woman who worked there sweet. The library was open limited hours but the staff was great and 5 computers for internet access. The staff was very helpful, and did not even ask for a card or who I was unlike our library. The only gas station was ridiculusly high. I loved the sun, the quiet peace, the rocks and visiting the Mint with my brother. The Mint is where the spring is that the town was named after. I attended bible study at one of the churches and really enjoyed the members who demonstrated they were christians 24/7.
I was not ready to leave and I would love to winter there.

I have 5 acres in Dolan Springs, I liked when I was there. I live in Idaho now, but I will try to develop it some time.
